Days after July 4 crash in Wilmington, motorcyclist dies

Two days after crashing into a car in Wilmington, a 37-year-old motorcyclist died, police said.

Wilmington police were called to West Second and North Rodney streets about 5 p.m. on July 4 for reports of the wreck. There, they learned that Luis Jimenez Jr. had run a red light and hit a car.

Jimenez Jr. was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died on Saturday. Police did not provide details about the other driver's gender or age or what kind of car they were driving, or whether they were injured.
