David Francis August, 76, of Tinton Falls, New Jersey and formerly a longtime resident of Bear, Delaware, passed away with loving family at his side on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Born in Wilmington on November 17, 1947, he was the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Malinowski) August.
Dave was a graduate of Salesianum School and earned his Associate’s Degree from Goldey-Beacom College. A veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served our country during the Vietnam War. Dave was employed as a manager with Delmarva Power, having retired in 2005 after 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed collecting an eclectic variety of items, and cherished the time spent with Sherry at their condo in Ocean City, Maryland, where they would often be found relaxing on the balcony looking out at the Atlantic Ocean.
In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his brother, Andrew August.
Dave will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Cheryl “Sherry” (Hacking) August; his children, Kimberly Edwards, Robin Daum (Michael), Robert Walker Jr. (Kenneth Mermon), Stefanie August and her son, Nicholas, Christina August; his grandchildren, Justin and Bryant Edwards, Kyle, Carly and Ryan Daum. Dave is also survived by his beloved cats, Jennifer and Katie.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, July 25 from 10:00 – 11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment with military honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
