SOPHIE just serenaded the audience at Louis Vuitton’s SS20 show

Set against a cosmic backdrop, the Scottish producer’s performance was screened whilst models showed off Nicolas Ghesquiere’s latest LV collection

Louis Vuitton has closed Paris Fashion Week, and the SS20 season entirely for that matter. At the Musée du Louvre this evening, models walked in front of a screen which showed Scottish record producer SOPHIE singing “It’s Okay to Cry”, as the likes of Indya Moore and Christine the Queens looked on.

For SS20, Nicolas Ghesquière presented a series of three-piece suits, some of which had exaggerated shoulder detailing and were styled with sequined sweater vests. Elsewhere, pinstriped jumpsuits were paired with tweed blazers, while bold dresses featuring vibrant floral prints were worn alongside classic trenches.

To finish off the looks, models carried a variety of bags including one that resembling vintage cassettes, egg-shaped styles which featured the classic Louis Vuitton monogram, and tote bags emblazoned with VHS prints. Also on display where flower inspired brooches, bowler hats, thigh-high boots, and chunky loafers. Models, meanwhile, were made up with exaggerated red lips which mirrored SOPHIE’s own.

SOPHIE was introduced to Nicolas Ghesquière through French music video director Woodkid. “She did a new cover of her song “It's Okay to Cry” especially for Louis Vuitton – it’s kind of like a post-modern serenade,” Ghesquière explained.

The set, which was deliberately minimalistic to showcase SOPHIE’s performance, was built from wood sourced from sustainably managed forests in France. The wood is to be donated for reuse.
