A homeowner who's taken to the internet to share his parking woes has blasted his neighbours over their seven cars – but everyone has told him the same thing.

Frustrated Reddit user vivamontequilla posted in a local page revealing the annoying ordeal with his neighbours, who seem to be parking their vehicles outside his home because they don't have the space for all seven cars.

Though he said he was trying "really hard to be reasonable" with his neighbours, he added he perhaps was "expecting too much from them".

There's lots of quality news coming out of the US.

"I live in North Central Phoenix in a neighbourhood with primarily single car driveways. I like to keep my driveway clear because I have a second car in the garage and would rather not have to move one out of the driveway to get that car out. There's also the sprinklers and wanting to have room for guests to park in the driveway," they shared on Reddit.

"My next door neighbour has three adults living in the house and seven – seven – cars. It's like they've taken over the whole street. In the past year I've had one of their cars in front of my house at all times which is fine, whatever, they have to park it somewhere.

"My expectation is that I can also at least park in front of my own house and there is room for two cars so one of theirs and one of mine perfectly fine. I've been ok with this for a long time."

He went on to say that recently they've started to park two of their cars in front of his house during the day, so when he gets home he has to park in front of their house instead – adding every time this happens he wants "to go into a rage and knock on the door".

"I'm 100% aware of the fact it's a public street and I'm not looking for ways to threaten the neighbours or get them ticketed or towed or even imply that it's my right to park there," he went on. "I'm just wanting them to give their neighbours enough respect to let them park in front of their own houses. I'm not the only one annoyed by this, I just want to handle it delicately so I don't cause a ruckus."

Redditers were quick to offer their opinions, but most people gave the man a reality check – stating there's no actual law to stop people from parking in front of other people's homes on public streets.

'If their cars aren't blocking your driveway, they are doing nothing wrong'

"I think as long as they're all registered and aren't abandoned there isn't really much you can do," said one person. "It's a public street, and it's nice to park in front of your house but I don't think there's any law against anyone temporarily parking there.

"Never had to deal with it myself, but I guess I'd just nicely explain (ie. not "go into a rage") how you have a 2nd car and ask if they would mind leaving a spot in front of your house to yourself."

Another chimed in with bad the news: "If their cars aren't blocking your driveway, they are doing nothing wrong. Your property rights don't extend to public streets."

Others were more sympathetic to the homeowner's situation. "I've had 3 instances in my life where a neighbour came to my house and asked me to do something differently," someone shared.

"All 3 times I had no clue my actions were bothering them, and simply letting me know was enough for me to change and everyone was happy. I suggest a 6 pack of brews and a nice conversation."

The homeowner replied: "I thought we had a good relationship. I've given them bags of oranges and lemons from my trees and they've always said hi and waved when we cross paths. It's weird.

"It's really annoying when one family decides they are going to control the street with their abundance of cars. ugghhh."

However, some thought revenge was the best solution. "You gotta park in their space now... assert dominance," one user quipped.
