The Premier Sports Cup kicked off the competitive return to action in the SPFL - but clubs are still wheeling and dealing.

Philippe Clement and Rangers have been very active in the market to date with the new signings joining the pre-season trip to the Netherlands as they start bonding with their new club mates. They've also got minutes in the legs with the Belgian looking to do more business. However, he has admitted that they will have to shift on players first in order to fund the spend.

On the other side of the city, rivals Celtic are finally poised to land a replacement for Joe Hart in the shape of veteran keeper Kasper Schmeichel. He is set to be unveiled as the Hoops' new No1. Talks to sign Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo on permanent deals continue, while Brendan Rodgers has allowed Oh to depart with his switch to Genk now officially a done deal.

Hearts are set to bank £1million for left-back Alex Cochrane as he gets set to depart the capital. Aberdeen meanwhile got their season off the ground with a convincing League Cup win at Queen of the South - but Bojan Miovski was conspicuous by his absence.

The Euros come to an end tonight and the mega transfers down south will start to heat up. Manchester United have just announced Joshua Zirkzee with Erik ten Hag set to bring further reinforcements to Old Trafford.

Kelleher not giving up Liverpool fight

Caoimhin Kelleher insists he’s not giving up the fight to be Liverpool’s No.1 .

The 25-year-old keeper has played understudy to Allison at the Anfield club and was linked with a move to Celtic in a bid to get first-team football.

That desire was echoed by new Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson with the Cork goalie at a real crossroads in his career.

Kelleher made 26 first-team appearances for the Reds last season, lifting the Caraboa Cup along the way, and is eager to build on that in the upcoming campaign – but his Brazilian team-mate is likely to retake the gloves at Pool.

I had a lot of games last season, which was really good. So just looking to do the same really and keep the same level of performance as well. It’s been such a long time now since I came over when I was 16. Time flies, I’ve enjoyed every minute here, to be fair.

I want to keep on that upward trajectory. It’s been really enjoyable, I’m looking to push on. The sessions are intense and the gaffer’s pushes us, which is always good. It has been really enjoyable so far.

New Napoli boss Antonio Conte is confident that star man Victor Osimhen will remain with the club beyond the summer.

Conte said:

We are talking about Victor as a professional, an excellent, top player.

I spoke to him and he knows that absolutely nothing has changed. He belongs to Napoli and he knows that those who belong to Napoli have to work hard and have the right attitude, even if there is this sort of agreement, that we still don’t know how it will end.

He’s here with a smile, and what counts at the moment is the training this afternoon and the attitude with me and my colleagues.

Romanians go nuts for Hagi's big day

Ianis Hagi (Image: Direct / Emanuel Rosu)

Ianis Hagi's wedding was broadcast live on TV in his homeland as the Romanian media go mad for the Rangers star.

Ibrox midfielder Hagi is marrying his long-term partner back home today having been given some time off between Euro 2024 and returning for pre-season with Philippe Clement's team. He booked it for the same day as the Final – so it's perhaps just as well his country went out at the round of 16 stage rather than going on an unlikely run to the showpiece in Berlin.

Son of Romanian football legend Gheorghe, Hagi is a household name in Romania where they fervently track his career and virtually any major story involving him makes the front and back pages. But his wedding went even further than that. His big day was broadcast live on TV, and treated much like a Royal Wedding would in the UK....

'Kvaradona' Chelsea move a dream - Nevin

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia (Image: Anadolu via Getty Images)

Former Chelsea and Scotland striker Pat Nevin wants his old side to push the boat out to sign Napoli's superstar Georgian international Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, known by Neapolitan fans as 'Kvaradona'.

Speaking to Genting Casinos, Nevin said:

My dream signing for Chelsea this summer is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. He’s a great player with a great personality and he’s old-school and modern at the same time.

He's doing it for Georgia and Napoli, put him in a top team and he could be extra special. I'd love to see him playing in the Premier League. Absolutely love it.

If Chelsea can make one big signing, that would be the one. He's skillful, he dribbles, he runs with the ball, he's good in the air, he takes players on. You name it.

He also does it while smiling and loving every second of it.

9 stars Rangers sell to fund rebuild

Ianis Hagi, James Tavernier and Cyriel Dessers could be used to boost the Rangers transfer kitty

There has been plenty of incoming faces already at Rangers - but Philippe Clement appears to have drawn an line in the sand over the potential moves in the market.

The Ibrox faithful are desperate to see more new additions to bolster their ranks with Jefte, Connor Barron, Clinton Nsiala and Liam Kelly all in the door - while Oscar Cortes is back after making his loan switch to the Light Blues permanent. But that appears to be all for now as the Belgian boss conceded the club will have to sell before they bring in any more new recruits.

During the pre-season tour of the Netherlands, Clement confessed that the "reality" of Rangers' situation was that they will have to offload some stars and bring in cash before they can dip back into the market. A title challenge is top of the agenda this season with the countdown on to the star of the Scottish Premiership season - as well as Champions League qualifiers.

So who could Rangers sell to bolster their transfer kitty? Record Sport takes a look here.

Why Youan missed Hibs win over Elgin

David Gray, Liam Craig and Craig Sampson in Elgin (Image: SNS Group)

David Gray says Elie Youan's absence from yesterday's 5-0 win over Elgin was simply down to illness.

The striker has been linked with a move away all window and he was seemingly conspicuous by his absence from David Gray's first squad as permanent Hibs manager.

But those drawing conclusions were putting two and two together and getting five as Gray says he was ill.

He (Youan) came in yesterday feeling poorly. So it was just the fact he'd be sitting on a bus, and with the way he's feeling at the moment, we didn't want to put the rest of the squad at risk knowing what it was.

He's got an illness but hopefully, it's just a minor thing, 24 hours or however long these things can take. He spoke to the doctor this morning and we'll monitor that situation and see how he's feeling. Hopefully, he's feeling better as soon as he can.

Last summer I played against Southampton in the pre-season. I felt Southampton played very good football with the ball; they didn’t play long balls, only short passing, they played smart.

Chelsea should sign 'phenomenal' Xhaka - Lebeouf

Chelsea have been advised by one of their former defenders to sign 'phenomenal' Granit Xhaka, with the Swiss midfield general being touted as the 'missing piece of the puzzle'.

Frank Leboeuf told BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League betting:

I’m telling you the one who Chelsea should sign is Granit Xhaka. He’s so impressive and I think Chelsea should have signed him when he left Arsenal.

He was phenomenal for Switzerland at the EUROs and he was also the Player of the Season for Leverkusen - he suits Chelsea so well, particularly in midfield with Enzo and Caicedo.

He could be the missing piece of the puzzle for them.
