The church where serial killer Peter Tobin murdered Angelika Kluk could be turned into flats or a hotel.

Cash-strapped officials said they are being forced to look at obtaining planning permission for St Patrick’s in Glasgow’s Anderston area which would see it being sold off.

Evil Tobin, 60, hid the body of the 23-year-old Polish student under the floorboards of the chapel after raping and murdering her in 2006.

A spokesperson for the church said: “Sadly, we are now facing the situation that the future of our church and parish is not good and we can expect the church to close.

“The Archdiocesan estates department is looking at options for the future including looking for planning permission for uses such as conversion to flats or a hotel.”

But one local said: “It’s the last place anyone would want to spend a night. Tobin’s crimes will never be forgotten.”

In September 2006 Angelika stayed in a room at the church. She was befriended by Tobin, a convicted child rapist, a handyman who called himself Pat McLaughlin.

After she vanished, Tobin, from Johnstone, was quizzed by police, then went on the run. He was later arrested in London.
