One of the first things that you learn whilst taking driving lessons is how to reverse into a space, and this is also often included when you sit your practical test.

And understandably, it can be quite a difficult task to master - with many people avoiding it altogether after the test has been passed, opting to drive straight in instead.

But it's a really useful skill to have, so if you find yourself struggling from time to time, fear not. One driving instructor's foolproof tip means you can carry out the move with ease, and it couldn't be simpler to follow.

The Mirror reports that the helpful hack was shared on TikTok by The Complete Theory Test Kit, who says that by following this step-by-step guide, reverse parking will be made a whole lot easier.

The short clip begins with the driver in position about to start the manoeuvre, putting the car in reverse so that other drivers are aware. He then checks all around the car to make sure nothing else is coming, making sure it's safe.

The driver then revealed his trick, which is 'reference point' stickers on the inside of the door, placed roughly where the handles are. People in the comments suggested you can use the handle itself as a reference if you don't have the stickers.

But if you do want to put them on and try out the trick, you should make sure the stickers line up with the lines on the parking bay.

After another safety check, the driver started reversing and steered all the way to the left, locking the wheel. As you move, you should still continue to check - especially when it comes to your blind spot.

Once the vehicle is straight, in line with the white lines of the bay, you should straighten the wheels and keep on reversing whilst keeping an eye on what's behind you.

When you're nearly in place, check the back and side windows to make sure you're not too close to the curb. The expert also has a reference point, on the back window behind his right shoulder, that tells him that he's the perfect distance from the curb.

The stickers can be useful when you're mastering the reverse bay park, but once you've practiced, the driver said you should be able to do the move without.

Thousands of people have watched and liked this video, many of whom shared their own tips.

One person said: "I use my shoulder and line it with the middle of a bay and then turn the wheel right around and park, works every time."

Another added: "I use the passenger door opener as reference."
