Puberty is hard for everyone, but it was especially difficult for Kate Ritchie.
Appearing on The Project on Tuesday night, the 40-year-old actress turned radio host spoke candidly about the 'awful' reality of growing up in front of the nation.
The former Home and Away star admitted that she has receiving shocking comments over the years, including strangers telling her they 'remember the day' she 'grew breasts'.

Kate landed a starring role as schoolgirl Sally Fletcher on Home and Away in 1987 at the tender age of eight.
She remained on the long-running series for 20 years, growing up in front of the cameras.
Speaking candidly on The Project, Kate revealed it wasn't easy transitioning from a child into a woman under the glare of the spotlight.
'I have to admit, it was pretty awful at times, but I think after 30 years, I'm so used to people commenting on my body,' she told The Project.
Somewhat incredibly, Kate said people will still discuss her sudden growth spurt with her, even today.

'I kind of grew overnight,' she admitted.
'I'll go get my sausages at the butcher or I'll go to the hairdresser, and people will tell me they remember the day when Sally Fletcher grew breasts.'
While Kate said she doesn't feel self-conscious about it anymore, she does 'think it's affected me in some ways'.

Kate has previously spoken about her experience growing up in front of the cameras, saying people would often comment on her weight.
'In the old days television did make you look bigger than you really were,' she told Good Health magazine in June.
'I spent the formative years of my life having people come up to me saying, "Wow, you're not as fat as I thought you were."
'People think they are paying you a compliment, and it comes from an honest place.'
