Brad Pitt blended in among the professional racing drivers as he was spotted filming a scene for his upcoming Formula One-based film at the iconic Silverstone circuit on Friday.

The Hollywood star, 60, was clad in a helmet and racing suit as he prepared to hit the track for high-speed driving during day two of the British Grand Prix festival.

Only a sliver of Brad's face could be seen as he sat in the car with his helmet ahead of the gruelling practice session during one of the most legendary sport events of the year.

The star's new blockbuster, which will be called F1, will be co-produced by Lewis Hamilton

After filming for the movie was delayed amid the US actors' and writers' strike last year, Brad, 60, will race an adapted Formula Two car between practice sessions this weekend as they make a start on the action scenes.

F1 chiefs are hoping the film - which will be released on June 25 next year - will follow the popularity of Netflix's Drive to Survive series with a teaser is set to be released ahead of Sunday's race.

Brad plays the role of a veteran driver Sonny Hayes, who is returning to the F1 grid after a long absence.

Alongside his fictional rookie team-mate Joshua Pierce - played by British actor Damson Idris - the Fight Club star lined up with the sport's 20 drivers prior to last year's race at Silverstone and the two actors are due to be on the grid again ahead of Sunday's event.

A garage has also been set up in the paddock at Silverstone for the '11th team', called APXGP.

Meanwhile multi-world champion Lewis, 39, has been heavily involved in the script to ensure the film is as authentic as possible.

Joseph Kosinski, the man behind Top Gun: Maverick, is directing the film, while Jerry Bruckheimer - who also worked on the Tom Cruise blockbuster - is listed as a producer.

Brad looked in great spirits as he got stuck in to his scenes with the actor due to attend six further races this season to work on the upcoming film.

Earlier in the day, the movie icon was also snapped stopping to chat with some lucky fans, as the actor bundled up against the chilly weather in a black jacket.

He also attended the glitzy sport event on Thursday, and made sure to steal the spotlight as he arrived at the Silverstone circuit before entering a door marked Cast Green Room.

This year's event is about much more than just racing with the festival putting on a series of huge musical performances from the likes of Kings of Leon and Stormzy over the next four days to entertain guests.

Saturday brings the legendary Pete Tong with his iconic dance mixes, and Rudimental will close out the weekend on Sunday.

The actual car racing begins with a practice day on Friday before the real races kick off on Saturday.

For the American heartthrob is not the first appearance at the four-day racing extravaganza - which runs from July 4-7.

Last year Brad was captured alongside British actor Damson Idris at the British Grand Prix to film initial scenes.

Production for the film began in 2023 and will include scenes from this season's British Grand Prix and Abu Dhabi races.
