Eddie Murphy reveals how he feels about his son Eric, 34, dating Martin Lawrence's daughter Jasmin, 28... after couple made their red carpet debut last month

Eddie Murphy has opened up about how he really feels about his son Eric Murphy, 34, dating Martin Lawrence's daughter Jasmin Page, 28.

The couple started dating during the summer of 2021 and are still together – they even made an appearance at the premiere of the new movie Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

'They're both beautiful, they look amazing together,' the Coming To America star, 63, said.

And, after three years together he and Lawrence, 59, are even talking about their potential grandchildren.

'And it's funny, everybody's like, "What is that baby gonna be funny?"' the star of the Netflix sequel to Beverly Hills Cop 4 said.

He continued, saying: 'Our gene pool is gonna make this funny baby.'

Eddie drove the point home, adding: 'If they ever get married and have a child, I am expecting the child to be funny.'

Eric is the eldest child of Eddie and his former girlfriend, Paulette McNeely. He’s  writer and voice actor.

Jasmin is the eldest daughter of Martin and his ex-wife Patricia Southall. She had a cameo in her dad's most recent movie, Bad Boys for Life.

And while Eddie is anxious to meet the future funny grandchild, right now he's sounding off about the Golden Bachelor. 

The Trading Places actor was invested in the dating show and has strong feelings about Gerry Turner's split from Teresa Nist.

In an interview with the New York Times, Murphy said he was happy to see the two senior citizens find love with each other. 

However, when news of their split broke, he reacted incredulously: ‘What kind of s*** is that!?” 

In that same interview, Murphy recalled how angry he was when David Spade took a 'cheap' and racist shot at him in 1995.

During Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, the Joe Dirt star, 59, showed a photo of the Trading Places actor and said: 'Look children, it's a falling star. Make a wish.'

At the time, Murphy was fresh off the box office flip Vampire in Brooklyn.

'It was like, "Yo, how could you do that?" My career? Really? A joke about my career?" So I thought that was a cheap shot. And it was kind of, I thought – I felt it was racist,' he said.

'It hurt my feelings. Most people that get off that show, they don't go on and have these amazing careers. It was personal,' the Dr. Doolittle star said.

And while Murphy has forgiven Spade, he hasn't forgotten what happened or how it made him feel. 

The Party All the Time singer was a regular SNL cast member from 1980 to 1984 and knew the process of how a joke made it onto the broadcast.

'The show would have been off the air if I didn’t go back on the show, and now you got somebody from the cast making a crack about my career?' he recounted.

'And I know that he can’t just say that,' the Doctor Doolittle star said.

'A joke has to go through these channels. So the producers thought it was OK to say that. And all the people that have been on that show, you’ve never heard nobody make no joke about anybody’s career,' he explained.
