Caterina Mete gives birth! Red Wiggle welcomes her twin baby girls after IVF journey

Caterine Mete has given birth to her twin baby daughters.

The Red Wiggle, 43, confirmed her pregnancy in February after undergoing IVF with an anonymous sperm donor, later revealing that she was expecting two girls.

Now, she has taken to Instagram to share the happy news that she welcomed her 'miracle' twin baby girls - and her first children - into the world on June 25.

Caterina, who is single, shared an adorable post on Thursday confirming the arrival of her twins as she shared pictures and videos of herself cuddling her little ones.

The new mother beamed from ear-to-ear while sitting in the hospital and cradling her babies under each arm.

Caterina confirmed the adorable names of her baby daughters - Dolly and Gigi - as she gushed over their arrival. 

The children's TV star wrote alongside the precious snaps: 'I am so thrilled to announce the arrival of my precious twin girls, Dolly and Gigi. 

'My heart is overflowing with happiness as I welcome to the world my two little miracles. Thank you all for your love and support during this special time.'

Her Wiggles co-stars and famous friends were quick to share their congratulatory messages with the overjoyed new mother.

The Wiggles official Instagram page commented: 'Beautiful family! Welcome to the world, Dolly and Gigi.'

Meanwhile, Purple Wiggle Lachlan Gillespie gushed: 'Yahhhh Kitty……. How beautiful. Double happy.'

And influencer Steph Claire Smith added: 'Omg the third video is so precious, congratulations.'

Just weeks before her twin daughters' arrival, Caterina gushed over how 'ready' she was to welcome her two babies into the world. 

'I'm excited and can't wait to meet them. Trying to rest as much as I can,' she said in a recent Instagram video. 'The nursery is ready. I think I'm ready.'

Her Wiggles family also held her a sweet baby shower before she headed off on maternity leave at the end of May.

She shared an array of photographs from the occasion and thanked her colleagues for throwing her the thoughtful party on her last day at work.

She was joined for the party by her fellow Wiggles Tsehay Hawkins, John Pearce and longtime member Anthony Field, as well as members of the production crew.

Caterina's IVF journey wasn't straightforward as she recently opened up about her heartbreaking miscarriage before she got pregnant with her 'miracle' babies. 

She froze her eggs in her 30s and later created two embryos with her chosen sperm donor but devastatingly suffered a miscarriage from the first embryo transfer. 

'It was certainly a shock to find out I had miscarried,' she told maternity brand The Inarra.

'I spoke to lots of women about it and was surprised to find out how common it is, I think talking about it has helped me through the healing process.'

Caterina went on to have a second embryo transfer and was given the happy news that she was pregnant with twins.

She then publicly shared her pregnancy news in February live on The Wiggles as she held up two Red Wiggle babygrows in a sweet announcement. 

'Hey, everyone. I've got some exciting news to share with you all. I'm pregnant with twin girls!' she gushed at the time. 

'Becoming a mother has always been a dream of mine. I feel overwhelmingly blessed to share that I am expecting two beautiful little miracles.

'This journey has been challenging, but filled with so much love and support. I am immensely grateful for the incredible team at my fertility clinic and the technology that has made this possible.' 

Caterina is a well-known face on The Wiggles, having first featured as a regular dancer in recordings before officially becoming Red Wiggle in 2022.
