Justin Timberlake was brutally trolled by Ricky Gervais on Wednesday as the singer's arrest for driving under the influence sparked a wave of reaction across social media.
The former NSYNC singer, 43, was taken into custody after police officers spotted his car driving erratically through Sag Harbor in upmarket New York enclave The Hamptons on Tuesday.
Timberlake, who is currently in the midst of a world tour, told officers he had only consumed 'one Martini' - but he was arrested and taken to the nearest station after 'performing poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests.'
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday evening, Gervais, 62 - famed for his merciless celebrity put-downs during two hosting roles at the Golden Globes - poked fun at the star, whose mugshot has since been released by Sag Harbor police department.
Addressing Timberlake directly, he wrote: 'Did you get the bottle of Dutch Barn Vodka I sent you the other day?'

The post prompted a mixed response from fans, with many seeing the funny side as Timberlake's widely circulated mugshot inevitably turned into a meme.

Police described Timberlake as having 'bloodshot and glassy' eyes, smelling strongly of alcohol, having slowed speech and unable to maintain his attention after being pulled over in The Hamptons.

Sobriety tests often include being asked to walk heel-to-toe in a straight line and turn or stand on one leg.
Fans joked that Timberlake, who was famous for his impressive dance moves on stage, could have recreated one of his routines when asked to walk in a straight line.

The singer was arraigned on one count of DWI, as well as running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane.
He is next in court on July 26 after being released without bail.

A police report obtained by DailyMail.com says the Sexy Back singer was pulled over after he blew past a stop sign after leaving the restaurant.
Officers said in their report they witnessed the pop star veering across the road before they intervened, and described finding him 'in an intoxicated condition'.
The pop star has two upcoming shows in Chicago later this week followed by back-to-back nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City next week.
A source told DailyMail.com: 'Justin was out to dinner with friends and there were cop cars stationed outside the restaurant, like they are most nights.
'They look for people who are leaving after midnight who might have been drinking.'
'Justin left at 12:30AM and was pulled over as soon as he left. Nobody was hurt and there was no drama at the scene.'
