Netflix viewers are left overjoyed as Suits season nine FINALLY gets a premiere date on the streaming site - but one key character WON'T appear

The final season of the legal drama Suits will soon be available on Netflix - although notably without the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

Tudum.com announced that season nine will be released on the streaming platform from July 1 during a panel at ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas on Sunday.

When the first eight seasons were dropped over the summer in 2023, they helped the legal drama to bring in a new generation of fans with season one spending an enormous four weeks in Netflix's top 10.

The impressive cast for season nine includes Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, Amanda Schull, Dulé Hill, Katherine Heigl, and Patrick J. Adams - who appeared as a special guest - as they try save the firm’s whose reputation is in tatters.

However Meghan who played Rachel Zane in the series, made her final appearance in the season seven finale when she tied to knot to Patrick J. Adam's character Mike Ross - departing the show after her romance with Prince Harry grew more serious

The 42-year-old was famously dating Prince Harry when they were filming the popular series, before she left in 2017 after the pair got engaged.

Still, the news of the season nine Netflix premiere left many fans overjoyed - with several people praising the streaming giant for bringing the final episodes to its fanbase.

'No way ! I thought it was over ! Can’t wait,' one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

'Omg omg omg. I got addicted to this show so easily,' another chimed in.

'Nice! Time to dust off the old courtroom drama suits and get ready for some juicy plot twists!' one user added.

However there were some who were not entirely thrilled about the series moving beyond its season eight ending, with one person noting that they felt it had already had a 'perfect' ending with the need for more episodes.

'Omg! It’s ended perfectly [no],' they lamented.

The cast opened up about the casting process for the series, with Patrick admitting he was on the verge of giving up when he was given the role - and related to how desperate the character was to land a job

'I had been fired from a pilot…and I was so sure that I was done in this business and that nobody wanted anything to do with me that my process of going into this, I read the script and I was like, "Well, I get this guy,"' he shared on the panel.

He said the piece he auditioned with was  a scene with Gabriel Macht's character Harvey Spector, where he has 'no options left,' so it resonated with him.

'This guy’s at rock bottom. He’s got no options left,' he said of the character Mike Ross. 'And he says like, ‘You gotta give me this job, and I will work harder than any of those guys out there," essentially.'

'I had been a professional guest star for about 10 years. I had been on a bunch of pilots that had failed and then had this recent firing…I just went into that room and just said those words. If you give me this job, I will work literally harder than all those actors who are out in the hallway, waiting to come in here and do this,' Patrick explained.

'And it was like the most honest I’ve ever been able to be,' the actor, who left in season seven and returned as a guest star in season nine.

A spinoff of Suits, titled Suits: LA, is currently in production after the show spiked in popularity last year when its initial eight seasons began streaming on Netflix.

The spinoff will feature Stephen Amell in the lead role as Ted Black, a hotshot Los Angeles lawyer who was once a federal prosecutor in New York City.

The spinoff series will also star Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis and Bryan Greenberg.

Duchess of of Sussex will not be involved in the spinoff, insiders told Dailymail.com in February, noting that she had been interested in getting involved on the production side, but not in front of the camera.
