Britain's Got Talent: Sydnie Christmas and impressionist Mike Woodhams head into the final as viewers call for dancer LeightonJay Halliday to receive a wildcard and claim the dancer was 'robbed'

Fans have claimed LeightonJay Halliday was robbed of a place in the Britain's Got Talent final during Wednesday night's results. 

After eight acts performed throughout the show, it was Sydnie Christmas who received the highest number of public votes after she astounded the audience and judges with her version of Frank Sinatra's My Way. 

While impressionist Mike Woodhams and dancer LeightonJay were left in second and third place, the judges took it to a split decision when asked which act to send through to the final. 

Bruno Tonioli opted to save LeightonJay, while Alesha Dixon went for Mike to even things out. 

Amanda Holden then also voted for the Scottish contemporary dancer, leaving Simon Cowell to take it to deadlock as he chose Mike.  

Heading back to the public vote to determine who would go through, it was Mike who gained the most votes, leaving LeightonJay heading home. 

Both acts have now secured their place in Sunday night’s live final and are also in with a chance of winning the life-changing £250,000 cash prize and a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance.

However viewers were outraged as they shared their hopes that Leighton will be this year's wildcard and return for the final despite the results. 

They wrote: 'Leightonjay was robbed. Simple as'; 'Leightonjay for the wildcard please'; 'shame, I wanted Leighton to go through'. 

'Leighton was completely robbed blind on #BritainsGotTalent tonight - what are the judges thinking? He could be a superstar. I hope he gets the wildcard and inevitably finishes higher in the final than that nonsense from Mike'.

'@SimonCowell I just would like to ask why you didn’t pick leighton ay he was phenomenal and you picked the impressions guy yes he was good but leightonjay was a different level tonight.'

'I think it should be the public vote that determines the 2nd act who goes through instead of the judges deciding. It’s not fair if the judges chose someone who came third in the vote'

'Explain to me the point of the judges being there, if they deliberately split the vote and go to the public vote to decide second place?' 

'#britainsgottalent what is the point in judges vote when they just decide to go to public decision anyway. Used to enjoy watching this show, now only watch it for Ant and Dec. Time to rest it I think. No enjoyment from this show anymore'. 

Others were delights Sydnie had gone through as they wrote: 'Sydnie is my favourite to win. absolute robbery if she doesn't IMO'.

Meanwhile some were also glad to see Mike go through as they added: 'YES MIKEEE!!! Was hoping you would go through.. WELL DONE!!'; 'Well deserved Mike!'

Amanda was brought to tears by Sydnie's performance on Wednesday as she exclaimed: 'I have to sit down, I thought I was going to pass out during that. Honestly, Sydnie when we saw your audition I had so many people come up and stop me.

'And tonight you have done even better, I just cannot believe your capacity and your fire and your strength.'

Stunned fans flooded X, formerly known as Twitter to comment on her 'incredible' performance, claiming she should win the competition.
