A fan favourite will be returning to Erinsborough in the coming weeks as Neighbours welcomes back its former star Stephanie McIntosh

The actress, 38, will reprise her role as Sky Mangel, the granddaughter of Harold Bishop, who she portrayed from 2003 to 2007. 

Stephanie's comeback was announced in an Instagram post made by the show's account on Friday.

Alongside an image of the singer, who is the half-sister of fellow soap star Jason Donovan, the caption read: 'Sky Mangel returns to Ramsay Street!

'Hot on the heels of Harold… Sky will be dropping by to visit her dear old grandad.'

Fans flocked to the comments of the post to express their excitement over her return to the show. 

'This is excellent news. When Sky came back in 2003 and then the Timmins bunch arrived it was a great few years. The teens had terrific chemistry,' one person wrote.

Stephanie landed her role on Neighbours in 2003, but left the soap to pursue a music career in 2007 following to release of her 2006 album Tightrope.   

During her time on the show, she shared Neighbours first on-screen same-sex kiss with co-star Lana Crawford, who was the soap opera's first lesbian character.

Stephanie reprised her role as Sky several times over the years, returning for a guest role in 2015 during the 30th anniversary and in 2020 for the 35th anniversary. 

She also made an unannounced cameo appearance in the Australian cut of the final episode in 2022 when the show was briefly cancelled.
