James Bond star Pierce Brosnan goes back to his spy roots as he cuts a dapper figure while filming his latest thriller Black Bag

Pierce Brosnan has returned to his James Bond roots as he was seen filming for his latest spy thriller Black Bag alongside fellow A-lister Cate Blanchett last week.

The Hollywood legend, 71, looked in his element as he played a spy called Spiegel while shooting on the streets of London's Marylebone on Friday.

The Irish actor cut a typically suave figure in a navy suit co-ord and matching vest, sporting a pair of black shades as he beamed into the camera lens.

The 007 star was seen entering a shop where he met his co-star Cate, 55.

The Carol actress looked unrecognisable as she sported a brown wig with long, wavy locks - appearing worlds away from her usual platinum bob.

Cate looked chic as she rocked a brown leather jacket with a black maxi dress underneath.

The Blue Jasmine star finished her ensemble with black slouchy heel boots and accessorised with a pair of blue-tinted aviator shades, while carrying a water bottle.

Lucky onlookers seemed amazed as they passed by the scene, with one fan in particular awe of Pierce as he stopped to take pictures of the actor.

The upcoming American spy thriller for Focus Feature is directed Steven Soderbergh, known for directing the likes of Erin Brockovich, Logan Lucky, Magic Mike, and the iconic Ocean's Trilogy.

The movie will see Michael Fassbender as leading star alongside Cate, and they are joined Bridgerton favourite Regé-Jean Page and Skyfall's Naomie Harris.

Also starring is Marisa Abela, who recently made headlines for her role in Amy Winehouse biopic Back To Black, and The Crown actor Tom Burke.

The plot details are firmly being kept under wraps, with filming and production kicking off earlier this month in London.

Casey Silver and Greg Jacobs are behind the production, while the script is penned by David Koepp - known as one of the most successful screenwriters of all time at the US box office.

David, 60, is well known for his works on 1993's Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, Spider-Man and The Mummy.

Pierce has also been busy filming Prince Naseem Hamed's upcoming biopic Giant, looking barely recognisable in the role ditching his dashing looks for a receding white wig.

Pierce is transforming into Prince Naseem's boxing trainer Brendan Ingle - swapping his dapper 007 suits for a grungy tracksuit.

His usual impressive quiff of silver hair was hidden under a wig of white hair which was receding at the crown and combed over.

The film is being executive produced by Rocky star Sylvester Stallone and written and directed by Rowan Athale, while Amir takes on the role of Prince Naseem.

Amir is a British-Egyptian actor who won Best Young Actor at the Egyptian Oscars in 2009 and is known for his roles in Jon Stewart's directorial debut, Rosewater, the multi award-winning series The Night Manager and the BAFTA-nominated The State.

Giant will tell the compelling true-life story of British-Yemeni boxer and his rags to riches ascent in the tough working-class streets of Sheffield and his discovery by Brendan, himself a steel industry worker turned boxing trainer.

The film will see the boxer become a world champion under the management of the Irish-born boxing trainer.
