Lewis Capaldi steps out in Hampstead with supportive girlfriend Ellie MacDowall - after taking a break from music to focus on his health

Lewis Capaldi and his girlfriend Ellie MacDowall soaked in the spring sunshine as they enjoyed a day out in Hampstead on Friday. 

The pair kept it casual as they walked the streets before grabbing a bite to eat alongside another friend. 

The Scottish singer, 27, keeps his relationship with Ellie private, after first confirming the romance in February 2023 after the pair made a cosy appearance at the BRITs after-party. 

The duo cut a casual figure during their latest appearance as the Someone You Loved hitmaker opted for a large black hoody and jeans while his unruly locks blew in the wind. 

Meanwhile Ellie displayed her effortlessly chic sense of style in a long brown tweed coat which she paired with a chunk red knit scarf. 

The model completed her look with some straight cut blue denim jeans and chunky black boots. 

The pair were last spotted out and about in North London earlier this month, in their first public appearance since they were last seen together in May 2023, during a trip to Los Angeles.

It comes after last month Lewis attended his first event in seven months as he enjoyed a beer at the Gucci Grammys afterparty in LA.

It was the first time in seven months that Lewis has attended an industry event, the last being the penultimate day of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships in July 2023. 

Lewis recently delighted fans by releasing five new songs for the New Year, despite his career break to focus on his anxiety and battle with Tourette's syndrome.

The singer returned to social media for the first time in six months to announce that he was releasing an extended edition of his second album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent. 

The tracks are called Strangers, A Cure For Minds Unwell, Someone I Could Die For, The Ancient Art Of Always F***ing Up and Old Navy Blue.

Lewis announced he would be taking a break away from the spotlight for his mental health after performing at Glastonbury in June 2023.

Lewis explained: 'After some back-and-forth about whether it was the right thing to do, I've decided it would be a shame for these extra five songs, which are so incredibly special to me, to sit on my hard drive, never to see the light of day.'

The album originally hit number one in the UK charts after its May 2023 release, staying there for two consecutive weeks. 

Lewis added on X: 'I was absolutely terrified of disappointing you all, afraid of not living up to expectations and, in all honesty, scared that the whole thing would be a complete flop. But thanks to all of you, it wasn't. 

'It's mind-blowing to see the songs on this album still resonating with so many of you despite the fact I've not been out there promoting it or touring, it means the world to me.

'Which brings me to the reason for this big b*****d of a letter I'm writing . . . 'Prior to my decision to f*** off for a bit, I'd always hoped to release an extended version at some point!'

The hitmaker also issued an update on his mental health journey in the post, saying his time off has been 'going great' and that he has noticed a 'marked improvement' in both his Tourette's and anxiety.

Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition characterized by a combination of involuntary noises and movements called tics. 

Lewis previously dated Love Island winner Paige Turley on and off from 2014 to 2016 after they met at college in Motherwell.

She is said to have inspired his smash hit album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent and his hit song, Someone You Loved.

Speaking previously about the inspiration for the record, Lewis said: 'I met a lady. She was very nice. I loved her. I loved the look of her and I loved how she spoke.

The singer shot to fame in 2019 after his hit single Somebody You Loved topped the UK Singles Chart for six weeks - and which recently became the UK's most streamed song of all time.

He then was reported to have dated student Catherine Halliday for seven months before splitting in September 2020.

Lewis revealed he was on dating app Hinge after being thrown off Tinder and Bumble because people thought he was pretending to be Lewis Capaldi.
