Australian Idol host Ricki-Lee Coulter has released her first album in 10 years and it has already climbed to number one on iTunes.

Appearing on Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Friday morning, the singer, 38, revealed it took a decade long battle with record companies to get to the milestone.

'It's 10 years of me trying to fight record labels to get me to be able to do what I want to do,' she said.

'I ended up in 2019 parting ways with my old record label...since then, I've been just focusing all of my energy on making this album and it's a combination of so many things.'

Ricki-Lee also disclosed that one of her songs sampled the chorus of Kiss' 1979 hit song I Was Made For Lovin' You.

'Once we had written the song, we had to get clearance for it... the publishers go do that for you,' she revealed.

'It was too perfect. and it worked so well,' she said of her reason to sample the song.  

Ricki-Lee is set to join legendary English boy band Take That on their This Life Tour to Australia later this year alongside Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

The group announced the exciting news in a February Instagram video, revealing they will tour Down Under in October and November.

'Hi guys, remember when we toured Australia in 2017? I think we should do it again,' Gary Barlow said to his bandmates Howard Donald and Mark Owen in the announcement.

'I think we should do it!' his mates responded.

The tour coincides with the release of their This Life album last year and the boys with be performing a mixture of old and new songs to the crowd.

The artists will be performing together in Perth on October 30, Adelaide on November 2, Melbourne on the 6th, Sydney on the 7th and Queensland on the 10th.
