A German influencer has come under fire from his own fans for a 'disrespectful' act he performed on a plane ride to Auckland on Tuesday.

Back in 2019, Catalin Onc made headlines when he revealed his mother has to work two jobs to fund his globe-trotting lifestyle with girlfriend Elena Engelhardt.

Now he has attracted further ire after filming himself taking up too much space on the plane and encroaching on an occupied seat next to him while he did 'breath work'.

The heavily tattooed influencer spread his arms out wide in the narrow plane seat and pressed up against a man seated next to him so he could do a move called the 'tree hug'.

The stranger appeared annoyed as he squished himself further into his seat while Catalin used his body to take up all the space and Elena filmed him.

'The tree hug. Doing static holds has increased my strength a lot. And they will teach you how to breathe too,' Catalin captioned the video.

Catalin fans were quick to turn on him in the comments section, with most slamming him for the invasive act.

'Bro sit there like a normal human. There’s other ppl around you,' one person wrote, while another said the act was a 'little cringe'.

Another commented: 'Having someone record you doing this nonsense on a crowded plane is just a tad cringe my guy.'

'And with this I unfollow. The filming and the public displays are too much for me,' someone else added.

'Read the room dude,' yet another added, as others pointed out the 'poor guy' clearly squished in his seat next to him.

One annoyed follower wrote: 'Learn respect you obviously don’t understand common courtesy.'

Another said: 'You’re on a f**kin' plane. Be glad you weren’t sitting next to me.'

Catalin and Elena came under fire in 2019 when they begged their followers to send them money to fund a £8,866 ($16,229) trip to Africa.

The pair admitted Catalin's mother works two jobs to support their luxury lifestyle, but her finances apparently weren't enough to fund their tandem bike ride.

So, the young lovebirds set up a GoFundMe under their Instagram handle Another Beautiful Day and asked some of their 34,000 followers to contribute.

As the pair don't have full-time jobs they currently rely on Catalin's mother for financial support - an arrangement which didn't sit well with fans.

'Your mum works two jobs to pay for your trip, don't you think that's impacting her mental heath? It's sad this isn't all a joke, the self importance you have is ridiculous,' one person wrote.

'Or, like, you know, get a job and pay for your little cycling trip yourself?' another said.

The couple claimed that getting a job would be 'detrimental' and there aren't many trades they are qualified for.

'Some will just tell us to get jobs, like everyone else and stop begging. But when you have the impact we do on others' life, getting a job is not an option,' they wrote.

'We could model and make fast money, but we don't want to advertise consumerism. A normal job at this point would be detrimental.'

The pair only managed to raise €1,127 ($1,867AUD) for their trip.
