Ed Sheeran brutally calls out friend Lewis Capaldi to get in the ring for a boxing fight and warns 'I'll have you'

Ed Sheeran has brutally called out friend Lewis Capaldi to get in the ring for a boxing fight, at Misfit's Boxing fight on Saturday.

The Shape Of You singer, 32, who in the past has seemed to be good friends with the Scottish singer, 27, has said that he wishes to have a face off with the artist.

Appearing at Katie Taylor's super-lightweight fight against Chantelle Cameron over the weekend, the singer was asked whether he is keen to get in the ring with anyone.

Disclosing that he would fight his father John at first choice, Ed later admitted that his second choice to fight would be Lewis.

Ed was asked: 'If you were to step in the ring and fight someone on this Misfits Boxing scene, who would it be?'

Ed joked: 'My dad!'

The interviewer added: 'Come on, you couldn't fight your father. If you had to fight another artist, who would it be?'

Abruptly responding, Ed said: 'Capaldi... yeah, yeah, yeah, I'd do it.

Addressing Lewis, Ed directly pointed at the camera and said: 'Lewis, I'll f****** have you, c*** [laughing].

Although the auburn-haired singer called out the Scot, his facial expressions and laughing behaviour could appear the call out was a joke - Lewis hasn't yet responded to Ed's call out.

Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, were in hysterics after watching Ed call out Lewis, with some admitting they would love to see the fight happen.

Some wrote: 'Hahahah make this happen.'

'Nah. Lewis is Scottish, he'd actually eat Ed'.

'Ed Sheeran or Lewis Capaldi let the best player win'.

'They must be joking right?'

The call out comes after Lewis poked fun at Ed as he overtook the hitmaker with the UK's most-streamed song of all time last year.

The impressive accolade saw the singer knock Ed's 2017 track Shape Of You off the top spot with his 2018 single Someone You Loved.

Lewis' tune has been played 562 million times via audio and video, the Official Charts Company claimed.

According to the BBC, the Scottish hitmaker said: 'Listen… The Beatles, Drake, Metallica, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, don't worry guys, no hard feelings, I just had to take this one. Take a step back and let Daddy steer the ship now, OK?'

On beating the Suffolk-native, he added: 'Ed's a man who is like a brother to me, he's been a mentor, he's put his arm round me and said, "Don't worry everything's going to be ok."

'He's been nothing but kind and gracious and beautiful, a good friend in an ever-changing industry. So to Ed I say... nice guys finish last. You snooze you lose, kiddo. Keep up!'
