The Block stars Ryan and Rachel Carr share the difficulties of travelling with children as they reveal their Easter holiday in the Whitsundays has been a 'disaster' after their kids 'lost it' at a restaurant

Rachel and Ryan Carr are trying to live it up at the Hamilton Island Resort on the Whitsunday Islands for the Easter long weekend.

But The Block stars, both 36, have found it difficult to enjoy their 'disaster' holiday after their three children Everleigh, six, Mila, three and Tommy, one, 'lost it'.

It appears nothing has gone to plan as Rachel shared her parenting fails to Instagram on Friday alongside a sweet family photo which hid the behind-the-scenes turmoil.

'First day of holidays, it all looks so beautiful... but in reality, yesterday was a disaster,' she began.

'Kids up since 5am and by 3pm they had all lost it. We tried to do dinner at 5:30pm, Tommy smashed his plate of spaghetti on the floor, Mila melted down and screamed at the whole restaurant.'

Rachel went on to say she got everyone to bed by 7:30pm before saying she 'wouldn't be broken' by the terrible first day.

Saturday morning she shared a video of herself going out for a coffee run to get away from the children and her husband.

'If you saw my previous story you know yesterday was a s**t day, but that's okay, that's what travelling with kids is like, right?' she said.

She continued: 'First day's just a write off, because you know everyone's going to melt down.

'Shout out to the Qantas stewardess who brought me a cheeky little bottle of champagne, like a couple minutes into the flight, because it was just madness. It is what it is.'

Despite the holiday getting off to a rocky start, Rachel is confident she can bring things back under control.

She finished up her video by gushing over how stunning Hamilton Island Resort is, saying it is the perfect place to 'reset' over Easter.
