Hugh Jackman calls Russell Crowe a 'great friend' as he reveals why he has the fellow Australian actor to thank for his success in Hollywood
Hugh Jackman paid his friend Russell Crowe the ultimate compliment on Friday when he said he 'owed' the man his career.
He shared an interview of the New Zealand-born, Australian-raised actor, 59, to Instagram where his 'great friend' revealed he got Hugh Jackman the part of Wolverine in the X-Men films, which turned out to be his breakthrough role.
The Aussie actor, 54, said Russell has helped him in 'countless ways' throughout his career, labelling him a 'good man and a great friend'.
In the interview Hugh shared, Russell said, 'I also suggested [Hugh] for [Wolverine], too,' after revealing he turned down the role.
'Because they showed me art and stuff like that, and it's like it doesn't look like me. But I tell you who it looks like, I said it looks like Hugh Jackman.'

The Aussie ex-pats have been friends for decades, often sticking together in the crazy world of Hollywood.
Even starring as rivals in the 2012 film Les Misérables couldn't tear down their bromance.
With Russell nicely settled in Sydney, though he is currently filming in Melbourne, and Hugh living in New York for several years, the buddies don't often get to spend time together.

However, that may all change as Hugh and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness are said to be close to moving back to their native Australia.
The couple, who just downsized from their $54.2million triplex apartment in the Big Apple to a smaller place in Chelsea, reportedly shipped their excess furniture back Down Under.
'Almost everything that didn't go to the smaller apartment is being shipped to Oz,' an insider allegedly told Woman's Day.
The source went on to say the couple 'were serious' about the move after years of living in New York for their careers.
