Kristin Cavallari opens up about adjusting to life after divorcing her ex-husband Jay Cutler in 2020: 'I've done a lot of reflecting and I've really looked inward'

Kristin Cavallari opened up about her post-divorce experience during an episode of The Bellas Podcast that was released on Wednesday.

During the interview, the 35-year-old reality television personality spoke about her changed love life and pointed out that she was ready to start a new chapter with her three children.

The entrepreneur was previously married to former professional football quarterback Jay Cutler, whom she divorced in 2020.

Cavallari began by expressing that she had matured greatly following the formal dissolution of her marriage. 

'Through my divorce, I've done a lot of reflecting and I've really looked inward. I feel like I've grown up the most that I have in the last two years, because I've essentially been on my own,' she expressed. 

The former Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County cast member then remarked that she wanted to ensure that she would be able to move past her former life with Cutler.

'I've really just focused on myself and making sure that I worked through everything with my ex and really closed that chapter,' she said.

Cavallari then also noted that she was committed to focusing on her well-being before striking up another romance.

'I want to make sure I'm fully healed before entering something new. I also think just being really comfortable in your own skin and knowing who you are is really important entering a relationship,' she stated.

She added that 'it was important to me to just really get in touch with myself again and figure out who the hell I am now.' 

Cavallari went on to give a bit of information about her recent dating life and expressed that, though she had enjoyed herself, she had not found anyone with whom she would like to stay long-term. 

'The first year I dated, I was having fun. I was like, you know, getting back out there and then really for the last year I haven't dated. I mean, I've gone on a couple of dates, but like nothing major,' she said.

The jewelry designer spoke about her sons Camden and Jaxon and daughter Saylor, aged nine, seven and six, and noted that she was deeply devoted to them.

'I have my kids for a week now, and then I don't have them for a week. So, what I've decided to do is when I have them, I'm a mom, like, that's it,' she said.

Cavallari did point out, however, that she had found a way to prioritize her professional interests when not actively parenting her children. 

'When I don't have them, I'm in LA, I'm in New York, I'm at the office later. I'll see my friends, you know, that's when I can catch up on my personal life too and do all the work I need to do,' she said.

The entrepreneur and Cutler, 38, initially met in the late 2010s and became engaged in 2011.

The former couple welcomed their oldest child the following year, and they tied the knot in June of 2013.

The exes went on to add Jaxon and Saylor to their lives in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

However, they eventually announced that they were separating, and they began their divorce process in 2020.
