Ex-NFL star Chandler Jones 'strikes plea deal' in domestic violence case... as Super Bowl champion 'AVOIDS jail'

Chandler Jones has reportedly avoided prison after the former NFL star cut a deal with prosecutors in his domestic violence case.

It's claimed Jones - who won the Super Bowl in 2014 with the Patriots - agreed to plead no contest to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

As part of the June 17 deal with Clark County prosecutors, according to TMZ, the 34-year-old's other misdemeanor domestic violence charge has been dropped.

The free agent was reportedly sentenced to 90 days behind bars but it was suspended.

TMZ reports that if Jones stays out of trouble for the next six months, the case will be dropped. He has, however, been ordered to avoid contact with the victim.

The former NFL star ignited concerns for his mental health  during a breakdown in September

The 34-year-old was initially arrested back in September 2023, when Las Vegas police detained him for violating a domestic violence temporary protection order.

He was put in custody and released by the Raiders not long after. Jones was back in handcuffs the following month over the safe offense.

Still only 34, Jones has not played in the NFL since being released by the Las Vegas Raiders. The defensive end had earned Pro Bowl honors four times in his 11 previous seasons in the NFL. He was also named in the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.

But the string of run-ins with police - and his social media activity - sparked questions about Jones' mental stability.

Last September, he appeared to suggest that Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels somehow staged Aaron Hernandez's 2017 suicide in a Massachusetts prison.

Hernandez, a New England Patriots tight end, hanged himself in 2017 following his arrest and conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
