Minor league Chicago White Sox star banned for 80 GAMES after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs

Chicago White Sox minor league pitcher Christian Edwards tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs and has been banned for 80 games, Major League Baseball announced on Friday.
It was Edwards' first positive drug test, leading to his lengthy suspension. A second positive test would lead Edwards to be banned for an entire season.
A third positive test, like the sport he plays, would mean he's out, in this case, banned from baseball.
Edwards has never made it above Single-A baseball, where he is currently, with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in North Carolina.
Edwards has spent his entire professional career with the White Sox organization as an 11th-round draft pick in 2021.

Before joining the White Sox, Edwards pitched for Division-I Jacksonville State.
As the Cannon Ballers have less than 80 games remaining in their season, Edwards' season is over, as is the beginning of his 2025 campaign, should the White Sox bring him back within the organization.
The positive test is another ugly mark on the White Sox season.
Chicago has by far the worst team in Major League Baseball at 20-56 and it is 29 games back of the Guardians for first place in the American League Central.
The second-worst team in baseball, the Colorado Rockies, have six more victories than the White Sox.
The rebuild in Chicago will likely depend on cultivating its farm system to have big stars on its big-league roster in the next five years.
Now, at least one of their pitching prospects in Edwards cannot develop until next year.
