Liverpool have confirmed that goalkeeper Adrian is leaving the club after rejecting a new contract – and young Czech goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros will be promoted to the third-choice shot-stopper ahead of the new season.

Spanish goalkeeper Adrian, who also played for West Ham during his time in England, was offered a new deal last month but, as reported by Mail Sport at the time, was keen to see out the remainder of his years in Spain

Boyhood club Real Betis are keen to sign him as a free agent.

Adrian, 37, was a key member of the dressing room and well liked among his team-mates, playing a key part in pre-match warm-ups and helping out with coaching duties for Alisson and up-and-coming keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

He made 26 appearances in total over five seasons.

Now new head coach Arne Slot will put his faith in Brazil No 1 Alisson – who will now go on holiday after crashing out of Copa America – and Kelleher.

The Irishman has attracted lots of interest but so far no club has made any serious commitment to buying him.

Nottingham Forest were one of the clubs keen – they made a £15m bid to sign him in January which was rejected – but they recently signed another keeper in Carlos Miguel.

Liverpool want at least £25m for Kelleher after a stellar season filling in regularly for Alisson.

The Reds will now put their faith in Jaros to join the senior goalkeeping team. Jaros, born in Czechia, joined Liverpool in 2017 from Slavia Prague. He counts as a homegrown option in official squad sheets.

Jaros, 22, was in the Czech Euro 2024 squad and won the league and cup double at Austrian side Sturm Graz on loan last season – ending RB Salzburg’s 10-year grip on the Bundesliga trophy. He has also had stints at St Patrick’s Athletic, Notts County and Stockport County.
