Paddy Power has released a hilarious advert jokingly declaring Piers Morgan to be the 'biggest Cristiano Ronaldo fanboy' on the internet.

Describing Morgan as a 'TV personality turned YouTuber', the video shared on social media features a satirical news broadcast ahead of what could prove to be Ronaldo's final major tournament at international level.

Warning that Morgan will 'tweet obsessively' about Ronaldo throughout the  tournament, the clip hilariously questions his affinity for the former Manchester United star, given that he has never played for a team Morgan supports.

Joining in the fun with the broadcast is Piers' son, Mail Sport reporter Spencer Morgan.

Introduced as one of those closest to Piers that will be required to provide emotional support to the veteran broadcaster ahead of what could prove to be Ronaldo's swan song, Spencer hilariously describes his father's adoration for Ronaldo as 'cringeworthy'.

'It's a tough time for him,' the younger Morgan explains.

'He'll be there on his sofa for every game in a full Portugal kit sobbing uncontrollably.

'He's been with Ronaldo through thick and thin, displaying levels of fandom that can only be described as cringeworthy for a man of his age.'

'It's gonna be a long, drawn out, painful goodbye but my dad will stay strong and do what he does best... make Ronaldo's last tournament all about him.'

Morgan and Ronaldo's friendship dates back several years, and it was on Piers Morgan Uncensored that the Portuguese forward infamously aired his grievances with Manchester United before his acrimonious departure from the club.

In an explosive interview, Ronaldo claimed he felt 'betrayed' by United and detailed his tumultuous relationship with Erik ten Hag.

'I have no respect for him [Ten Hag] because he doesn't show respect for me,' Ronaldo told Morgan.

'Some people, they don't want me here - not only the coach but the other two or three guys. Not only this year, but last year too.

'Honestly, I shouldn't say that. But listen, I don't care. People should listen to the truth. Yes, I feel betrayed.'

Euro 2024 marks Ronaldo's thirteenth major tournament as an international, two decades after he featured in a Portugal side that reached the final on home soil.

The 39-year-old holds the record for the most goals scored at European Championship finals with 14, and the most in qualifying with 44.
