The state of the Frankfurt pitch during England's Euro 2024 clash against Denmark left fans and pundits livid on Thursday night.

Alan Shearer also bemoaned the surface at the Frankfurt Arena, which was cutting up in the early stages of the game, with clumps of grass visible across the pitch. 

Speaking on BBC Sport, Shearer said: 'Looking at the pitch, it's cutting up all over'. 


Early in the game England defender Kyle Walker lost his footing and needed treatment amid fears that he may have suffered an ankle injury.

However, Walker was able to continue after changing his boots.

The England right-back was later played a key part in the build-up as Harry Kane opened the scoring, although he almost slipped in the build-up.

Fans were heavily critical of the pitch, with one writing: 'This pitch is absolutely s*** btw'.
