Jack Grealish has hailed a former team-mate as 'one of the best' he has ever played with after watching him at Euro 2024.

The 28-year-old has been watching this summer's tournament on the TV, with the Man City star currently on holiday with his girlfriend Sasha Attwood in Italy. 

It comes after he was left out of Gareth Southgate's final 26-man England squad for the tournament. 

Grealish watched Germany's 2-0 victory over Hungary on Wednesday, and hailed the importance of former Man City team-mate Ilkay Gundogan. 

Alongside a picture of Gundogan on his TV during the game, Grealish wrote: 'Can't explain how good this guy is man.

'Honestly one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of playing with.'

Gundogan, who now plays for Barcelona, scored Germany's second goal as they sealed their place in the last-16.

Grealish joined the German midfielder at Manchester City in the summer of 2021, after joining from boyhood club Aston Villa for £100m. 

They spent two seasons together, before Gundogan left following their Treble success in 2023.

Grealish had been part of Southgate's provisional 33-man squad, before he, James Maddison, Harry Maguire, Jarrell Quansah, Jarrad Branthwaite and James Trafford were cut.  

Germany's stars expected Grealish to be in the England squad, with the Independent reporting that many members of Die Mannschaft were left 'stunned' when they saw England's Euro 2024 squad.

Grealish made 36 appearances in all competitions last season, but only started ten times in the Premier League. 

When asked if Grealish's recent form cost him his place in the squad, Southgate said: 'I don't think today would be a good day to talk about the bigger picture. I don't think that would be fair.

Earlier this week, Grealish posted a picture of the Sardinia sea and added the caption: 'Perfect for a morning run,' as he enjoys his holiday in Italy.

A short while later, he then added a Boomerang of him blowing his cheeks out as he was seen topless while sweating from his workout in the 24-degree heat on his well-earned 'break'.

His partner Sasha also posted a picture of her drink as she sat by a pool.
