The details of Julian Nagelsmann's contract have been revealed, with the Germany manager reportedly set to pocket over £300,000 if the Euro 2024 hosts win the tournament.

Nagelsmann, 36, signed his contract with the German national team in September 2023 and will be looking to lift his first international trophy on home soil after less than a year in charge.

Having crashed out at the group stage during the 2022 World Cup — their last major tournament outing — the German FA (DFB) will not tolerate another humiliation, especially given Euro 2024 is being played in front of home support.

According to German outlet Bild, there is a 'ripcord clause' in Nagelsmann's contract for such an eventuality. 

If Nagelsmann fails to guide Germany to the tournament knockouts, the financially-troubled association can axe him with immediate effect, void any ongoing talk of an extension and boot him out with no severance pay.

After Germany crashed out of the 2022 World Cup at the group stage with ex-manager Hansi Flick (above), the DFB have created a 'ripcord clause' for that eventuality under Nagelsmann 

Although Nagelsmann will earn over £300,000 if Germany win the Euros, the 'ripcord' clause means he won't receive any severance pay and will be axed instantly after a group stage exit

Hansi Flick, who was sacked after Germany's poor display in Qatar, reportedly cost the DFB a lot of money because of the length of his contract, and the association were eager to avoid this scenario when agreeing terms with Nagelsmann.

Another aspect of the 'ripcord clause' is that only assistant coach Sandro Wagner, 36, would remain as part of Germany's set-up following Nagelsmann's departure.

Nagelsmann, who earns £5million per year with Germany, has several success clauses in his contract as well, with one being a €400,000 (£337,000) bonus for winning the tournament.

The players would also receive the same sum should Germany triumph as they last did in 1996. 

Germany begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Scotland on Friday, before facing Hungary and Switzerland in their remaining group stage matches.
