Manchester United's decision to stick by Erik ten Hag after an end-of-season review has been brutally mocked by Simon Jordan.

The Red Devils confirmed Ten Hag would remain as Manchester United head coach on Tuesday night, abandoning their ongoing search for a new manager.

The Premier League giants, who are now discussing a new contract with the Dutchman, headed into the summer with a list of potential candidates to replace Ten Hag after an underwhelming season at Old Trafford.

The Manchester club closed out the season with a club record low finish of eighth in the Premier League but still managed to qualify for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup at Wembley.

United's shock win in the final against Manchester City is believed to have strengthened Ten Hag's case, sources disclosed to Mail Sport on Tuesday.

Jordan took to social media to ridicule Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS after their decision to stick by Ten Hag.

'That must strike terror into the hearts of all the major Premier League teams,' he said sarcastically on X.

'It’s clearly evident #mufc are going in the right direction,' Jordan added, signing his remark off with a lying face emoji.

'I’m pretty sure it didn’t need a supposed review to stick with what you started with.'

On Wednesday morning, former Sky Sports host Richard Keys labelled the decision a 'shambles', claiming that Ten Hag had only been given his vote of confidence because of a lack of managerial options in the market at the moment.

Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank and Thomas Tuchel, who distanced himself from the role following talks with Ratcliffe in Monaco last week, were all initially viewed as potential successors by INEOS should Ten Hag be given the boot.

'It’s hardly a vote of confidence is it? "You can stay because no-one wants to work for us". I told you nothing would change under Sunny Jim. What a shambles,' Keys posted.

While considering all different outcomes, Manchester United are said to have come to a clear conclusion that Ten Hag, 54, was the best man for the job.

Mail Sport understands that United officials want to see how Ten Hag operates under what they believe will be a new structure aimed at ensuring he is given the best opportunity to succeed.

Considerations for United's uneven campaign, such as an ever-growing injury list and teething problems with a number of new signings, are also thought to have contributed to INEOS' decision.

Omar Berrada is due to arrive from Manchester City as chief executive on July 13. Jason Wilcox has already joined as technical director while talks are ongoing to bring Dan Ashworth to Old Trafford from Newcastle as sporting director.

Discussions with Ten Hag are thought to have been positive with both club and manager aligned. Talks on a contract extension have opened.

Two of Manchester United's top six rivals, Chelsea and Liverpool, are starting afresh with new managers in the dugout next season, with Enzo Maresca and Arne Slot joining the Premier League giants respectively.

Pep Guardiola, who led Manchester City to an unprecedented fourth successive Premier League title last campaign, hinted that next campaign could be his last at the Etihad, while Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and Tottenham's Ange Postecoglou are seen as long-term bosses by their respective north London clubs.
