  • Tottenham will try and hold further talks with Sporting Lisbon over deal for Porro
  • The 23-year-old wing-back is highly-rated in Portugal and has a £40m clause
  • Spurs also interested in signing Leandro Trossard who wants to leave Brighton

Tottenham are looking to hold further talks with Sporting Lisbon next week over a deal for Pedro Porro.

The 23-year-old wing-back has a £40m buy-out clause and so far Sporting have been resistant to sell him unless that fee is put forward.

Since Kieran Trippier left Spurs back in 2019, the north Londoners have been unable to find someone with the same quality - with Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty failing to deliver at the moment, while youngster Djed Spence is barely featuring.

But Porro, formerly on Manchester City's books, may well be the answer for Antonio Conte.

Porro has made 94 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals and providing 19 assists.

The highly-rated Sporting star has been linked with Spurs' London rivals Chelsea too, and it's only a matter of time before he is snatched from the Portuguese giants.

Spurs have also been linked with Porro's team-mate Marcus Edwards - who was once a Tottenham trainee - but the 24-year-old also has a £52m clause which Sporting are demanding is met.

Tottenham also remain keen on Brighton's Leandro Trossard - whose representatives confirmed on Friday that he wanted to leave the club.

It came after the Belgium winger reportedly returned home on the Eurostar having been dropped by Roberto De Zerbi for Brighton's clash against Liverpool.

De Zerbi demonstrated his dissatisfaction in Brighton's star attacker's attitude, stating: 'He [Trossard] knows very well that if he wants to play with me he has to work hard, to run, to be in the right way.

'We are not a big team, like Real Madrid or Barcelona, we are Brighton and he has to work like the other players.

'I don’t know what the problem is. I want to be honest. I’m open with him.'
