Kieran Trippier has mocked Arsenal while posting a message to Tottenham fans after Newcastle's 2-0 win against the Gunners.

The Magpies triumphed 2-0 at St James' Park on Monday night as Arsenal collapsed under pressure once again.

After losing the North London Derby on Thursday, they missed another opportunity to go above Tottenham.

Mikel Arteta's side are now two points behind their bitter rivals in the table and look unlikely to usurp them for fourth place and the crucial final qualifying spot for the Champions League.

And former Spurs star Trippier posted on social media after the game to his one million followers to rub salt in Arsenal wounds.

Right back Trippier, 31, signed for newly-rich Newcastle in January for £12million from Atletico Madrid, having moved from Spurs to Spain in summer 2019.

The 35-cap England international enjoyed an impressive start in the north-east, scoring twice in five Premier League games, but has been out recently with a broken foot.

He was an unused substitute against the Gunners but is close to a return.
