Tyson Fury's uncle and former trainer Peter Fury has weighed in on the debate surrounding the corner work in the Gypsy King's defeat by Oleksandr Usyk earlier this month.

The British heavyweight suffered the first professional loss of his career as he was beaten via split decision by Usyk in their undisputed showdown in Saudi Arabia.

Following the fight, Tyson appeared to question his coaching team after revealing they told him he was winning heading into the final stages of the bout, while fans have also claimed there were too many voices in the corner as he received advice from his father John, SugarHill Steward and Andy Lee.

Peter, who trained his nephew for his first world title win against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, has now had his say on how things played out, and he refused to hold back.

'For me, there were just too many people,' he told October Red YouTube channel.

'One of them should have been doing the speaking, whichever one it was, not three or four, because how can you listen to all that? Too many people.

'I've always said, I can't be bought in boxing. If somebody's on in the corner I'd say "shut your f***ing mouth now!" Or "get out the back".

'It's happened before. I'm not having anything going on in that corner.'

Explaining how he always wants his corner to conduct themselves, Peter revealed he tells his team: 'You're the bucket man, you wash the gum shield out, you wipe his head down. Do not speak. That's the instruction.

'And if they speak, automatically when I get back to the dressing room, they're sacked.'

Tyson had Peter in his corner for his first 25 fights as a professional, but opted to switch trainers when he made his return to the ring following a three-year layoff in 2018.

He worked with Ben Davison - now the trainer of heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua - for five fights, before moving to Steward.

Steward, nephew of the legendary trainer Emanuel Steward, guided Tyson to consecutive wins over Deontay Wilder and stoppage victories against Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora.

However, Tyson barely scraped past former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in October, and has now lost for the first time to Usyk, leading to criticism of his coaching setup.

Tyson has reportedly activated his rematch clause to face the Ukrainian once again, but it is not yet clear whether he will stick with the same corner team as the first fight or look to make some changes.
