Lightning McQueen comes alive: Sphero reveals $300 app controlled racer that has LCD eyes and can talk

Robotic toy company Sphero, which has previously designed toys such as an interactive BB-8, has launched an app controlled Lightning McQueen car from Pixar's Cars film franchise.
The car, who's launch comes before the release of Cars 3 in June, is controlled with a companion iOS or Android app.

The car, priced at $299.99, can 'speak' 300 different phrases and users can play games on it.
But the car isn't limited to just these phrases - according to sphero, users can customize him and create scripts with phrases and actions for him to perform.
The companion app, which connects to the car via bluetooth, allows the user to control the car, which can drift, do donuts and react to its own driving.
It has five touch sensors: On its hood, trunk, sides and top, which the user can touch to start the car moving.

The car, which has six motors, will ask for help if it's been rolled over and will sound an alarm if it's being shaken too vigorously.
While it costs more than double Sphero's interactive BB-8, the Ultimate Lightning McQueen drives faster and has more animated features.
