Kate's outfit was an upcycled Coronation piece
The Princess of Wales stunned crowds during her first public outing since revealing her cancer diagnosis.
She was dressed in a white Jenny Packham dress with black trim and ribbon embellishment on the neckline.
But eagle-eyed royal fans will have noticed that the stunning piece is an upcycled version of the ensemble she wore to greet people ahead of the King Charles's Coronation in May 2023.
People Magazine revealed she accessorised with earrings that appear to be her Cassandra Goad Cavolfiore Pearl Studs and the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, nodding to her role as the regiment's honorary colonel, which is trooping its colour today.
Why Princess Kate stood next to King Charles
After the Royal Family's balcony appearance, former royal butler Grant Harrold shared his thoughts on the significant occasion for the family.
Grant highlighted the relationship between King Charles and Princess of Wales as they showed their 'close' relationship on the balcony and displayed a 'united' front.
Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Harrold said: 'The protocol is that traditionally Kate and William would be standing next to each other and the King and Camilla standing next to each other.
'It is planned but it is also changing the protocol to show the King and Kate united with each other and going through similar battles, so I would say this is down to the King’s preference. The balcony is all orchestrated but I have a feeling the King said the Kate "you stand next to me"'.
Public react to Kate appearing on balcony
Thousands cheered as Catherine, Princess of Wales, appeared on the balcony with other members of the monarchy.
Carol and Brian Haddow from Scotland were among the crowd waiting to catch a glimpse of the Princess of Wales.
Mrs Haddow said: 'Well, like anybody going through chemotherapy, it's a big thing for her to come out and do this. We were a wee bit back but she looked fine, happy to be involved and she was with the kids.'
She said the royal family played an important part in 'bringing in tourism' to the country, adding: 'It's a great thing to have a king or queen.'
Sergeant praises Princess of Wales
Garrison Sergeant Major Stokes who helped plan Trooping praised Kate, he said: 'I think it's such a nice thing for the Princess of Wales to come and attend today.
'It is probably the only day we see the entire royal family together in public and I think the royal family really appreciate the day as well - it's the closest thing we get in the United Kingdom to a national day, so all of that makes it incredibly special.'
Queen Camilla reassures the King
Body language expert Darren Stanton revealed that Queen Camilla is a 'reassuring figure' for her husband King Charles
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Slingo, the expert revealed that the King was 'feeling nervous', the Queen stepped in to 'lead the way'.
Stanton explained:'Charles is deep in thought and he appears to be quite distracted from time to time, which is understandable given the great importance of events like these to his late mother Queen Elizabeth.
'Camilla looked comfortable standing still and was in control of her movements. She always remains composed and is a reassuring figure for Charles.'
Fitzwilliams: 'The Queen would have been proud'
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told MailOnline: ‘It was so moving at the end of the climactic balcony appearance after Trooping the Colour when the Prince and Princess of Wales stood with King Charles and Queen Camilla, with the Princess standing next to the King, unlike last year. George, Charlotte and Louis were with them.
‘The image will go worldwide as it symbolises the resilience and the closeness of the royal family, which has been weakened by the King and Catherine fighting cancer.
‘They have reached out in an unprecedentedly open way to other cancer sufferers, as we saw in the Princess's statement released yesterday.
‘This year the King’s Birthday Parade marks the return to official duties of Catherine after six months.'
‘It was magnificent ceremonially, with the King using a carriage to inspect his guards.
‘Last year he was on horseback, but he has much increased his activities despite his cancer treatment and seemed to be enjoying himself.
‘It must however, have been stressful for both the King and Catherine to act as they did whilst the world watched. It all went off without a hitch.
‘The King, like the late Queen Elizabeth, is the expert on the parade. I feel she would have been proud of the way they carried it off so superbly.'
Touching moment between Prince William and Sophie
This is the moment Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, reassuringly touches Prince William on the back as they head inside Buckingham Palace following the RAF flypast.
The Prince of Wales appears to wipe a tear from his eye as Trooping the Colour finishes for another year.
Royal fans didn't let rain dampen their spirits
Royal fan Joseph Afrane was in high spirits throughout the procession today despite the wet weather.
The 60-year-old was decked out in a Union Jack T-shirt, shades and trousers, as he watched the procession earlier today.
He said: 'I have come here to support the Royal family.
'I was particularly pleased when I heard the Princess of Wales would be joining us.
'The Royal family do a great job for the country. and support lots of charities.
'They also bring a lot of tourists to the country which boosts the economy.
'Without the Royal family there would be no Britain, in my opinion.'
Prince Louis steals the show (again)
It may have been the King's birthday but it was Prince Louis who stole the show (again) today.
Pictures from earlier today show the six-year-old's expressive behaviour as he took part in the Trooping the Colour parade.
Louis was watching the parade intently until his attention turned to what appeared to be a blind cord in the building.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told MailOnline: ‘Kate’s appearance today is pivotal as the royal family is much weakened by two senior members fighting cancer. It is especially significant as we have not seen her on an official engagement since December.
‘It is clear, both from the moving video message in March and from the statement released yesterday, that she is resilient.
‘They will have a very special cachet as today’s Birthday Parade will. She is a very special person with a place in all our hearts.’
