Rescuers will continue searching for Jay Slater today one week after the British teenager went missing in Tenerife.

The 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer has not been seen or heard from since Monday, June 17, when he called a friend to say he was lost, in need of water and out of phone battery as he attempted to return to his accommodation on the island.

Mr Slater's family have flown to Tenerife to help find him while a GoFundMe appeal to raise money for the search passed its £30,000 target over the weekend.

Debbie, the mother of missing teen Jay Slater, has slammed trolls who have questioned how the £33,000 raised on GoFundMe will actually help the search.

The fundraising page, set up by Jay's best frienf Lucy Law, has raised the massive amount of money in the days since the 19-year-old disappeared.

Many have not only questioned why so much money has been raised, but what good it would even do for the investigation.

Heartbroken Debbie told the Sun: 'I am really am saddened by all your comments. You seem to be so bothered about this GoFundMe page. I really hope I am not taking my son home in a body bag.

'I really cannot believe the British public are not supporting me in trying to find Jay.

'This may happen to any of you one day. Very let down by you all.'

Rach Harg, a friend of Jay's family, said last week that the money raised on the GoFundMe would be used to help fund the family's stay in Tenerife during the search.

'I don't believe he is still on that mountain because the police have put every effort into finding him and I've been up there and it's just completely barren.

Facebook admin of Jay Slater group has been targeted by cruel trolls as family slams internet sleuths

The admin of the Jay Slater Missing Facebook page, Rachel Louise Harg, has posted a message to members simply captioned 'This isn't me!!!!' alongside a screengrab of a TikTok video falsely claiming Jay's body had been found.

The fake TikTok also suggested he had been murdered by a gang.

There is currently no update and sightings of the 19-year-old remain unconfirmed.

This comes amid a media frenzy which has seen reul trolls and media sleuths attack the family.

Just yesterday, another admin, Megan Blair posted in the Facebook group asking people to 'stop believing everything they see on TikTok'.

Police were seen parked up on the road of the village of Masca this afternoon as officers narrowed their search efforts.

Cops are reportedly using binoculars as they search the vast landscape.

It comes as his mother, Debbie Duncan, said she had 'not slept' since the 19-year-old went missing.

'We just need you home,' she said in a direct plea to her msising son.

Mr Slater's mother issues a direct plea to her missing son on the sixth day of the hunt, saying: "We just need you home."

Firefighters appeared to conduct the majority of the searches as they wore helmets to tackle dangerous hillside terrain in Tenerife.

The search parties seemed noticeably smaller compared to other days - with only a handful of emergency workers visible in the village of Masca and the surrounding areas.

Sunday June 23

Search teams narrowed their efforts on small buildings close to where Mr Slater's phone last pinged.

Officers from the Guardia Civil in the Canary Island could be seen circling two structures at the bottom of a ravine in Rural de Teno Park.

Efforts appeared to be solely focused on the one area after days of searches in the village of Masca and the surrounding landscape.

The search is temporarily moved to the Los Cristianos area in the south of the island due to a potential lead, but this is quickly discounted and the search returns north.

Mr Slater's mother, Debbie Duncan, said she feared her son had "been taken against his will".

Thursday June 20

The search returns to Rural de Teno park, around the village of Masca.

Emergency workers met in various locations throughout the day, combing bushes, overgrown terrain, hillsides and rivers but failed to find the missing teenager.

Friday June 21

Spanish police reject an offer of support from Lancashire Constabulary as the hunt continues.

Police, firefighters and search and rescue personnel combed a vast area of land in and around the village of Masca.

Search and rescue personnel carefully looked through dead palm trees covering a river at the bottom of the hillside near to an Airbnb property Mr Slater had reportedly been driven to.

The owner of the property told reporters she saw Mr Slater walk up the road past her property but did not see him again after that - describing the situation as worrying.

Mr Slater attended the NRG music festival with friends at Papagayo nightclub in the tourist resort of Playa de las Americas in the south of the island.

Monday June 17

In the early hours of Monday he goes to stay in an apartment in the north of the island with people he had met over the course of the night.

Mr Slater posts a picture on Snapchat from the doorway of the property he stayed at overnight, tagged as being in Rural de Teno park.

8.30am

He calls his friend, Lucy Law, telling her he had attempted to walk back to his accommodation after missing his bus - a journey that would take more than ten hours.

In the frantic last phone call, Mr Slater said he had 'cut his leg' on a cactus and had "no idea where he was".

Ms Law said her friend told her he was "'ost in the mountains, he wasn't aware of his surroundings, he desperately needed a drink and his phone was on 1%'.

Mr Slater's phone runs out of battery shortly after with his last known location being in Rural de Teno park.

Police in Tenerife have issued an update this morning as the search for Jay Slater continues.

In comments reported by the Mirror, a Civil Guard spokeswoman said officers with sniffer dogs and mountain rescue experts are on the ground along with overhead searches.

The same Civil Guard units that have been searching for him since last Monday, including the mountain rescue experts and officers with sniffer dogs, are out on the ground, along with a police helicopter in the air.
Firefighters and Civil Protection workers with drones are also involved. No hypothesis is being ruled out. Some of the areas that are being searched have been looked at before.

The building firm that employs Jay Slater has said the teenager is being misrepresented online following a slew of negative comments and conspiracy theories.

The mother of Jay Slater has addressed concerns over a GoFundMe Page set up for her son which has so far attracted more than £32,000 in donations.

In a Facebook post Debbie Duncan appeared to take aim at critics who have questioned the online fundraising page, which she said will cover the family's efforts to find Jay in Tenerife.

Rescuer - 'It's like searching for a needle in a haystack'

A British rescuer who has flown to Tenerife to help find Jay Slater has described the search as looking for a 'needle in a haystack'.

Mountaineer Paul Arnott, 29, of Flitwick, Bedfordshire, responded to the family's plea for help and hopes his expertise of navigating mountains may prove fruitful in the operation to find Jay.

But speaking to the BBC, Mr Arnott described the difficulties of the search as it entered its second week on the Spanish island.

Missing teenager Jay Slater, 19 mum speaks to mailonline appealing for any information to get her son back.

Debbie Duncan, Jay Slater's mother, thanked well-wishers after a GoFundMe page set up to support search efforts passed its £30,000 target over the weekend.

Writing on the page, Debbie said, 'your support means the world to us' with money earmarked to cover the family's expenses including accommodation on the island.

I wanted to confirm that this is the only GoFundMe fundraiser approved by our family.   • His friend Lucy - who has since led criticism of Spanish police - received a phone call from Jay at about 8am, telling her he was 'lost in the mountains with no water' and just one per cent battery on his mobile.

  • This was the last - so far - confirmed sighting, with the Airbnb's owner Ophelia Medina Hernandez describing how she saw him walking at pace in the nearby village Masca - apparently heading away from Playa de las Americas.

  • Mr Slater’s phone died at about 8.50am, with his last known location registered to the Rural de Teno park near Masca where he had apparently stayed that night.

  • Jay is reported missing by friends including Lucy, before the UK Foreign Office is alerted later that day - and police launched mountain rescue operation.

  • A new potential sighting has now been reported by a man who says someone resembling Jay was sitting on a bench beside a church at Santiago de Teide, back closer towards Playa de las Americas.

Hello and welcome to MailOnline's live coverage of the search for Jay Slater in Tenerife.

It has been one week since Jay was last heard of after he called a friend to say he was lost, in need of water and out of phone battery as he attempted to return to his accommodation on the island.

Friends and family flew out last week to help find the 19-year-old and a GoFundMe appeal to raise money for the search passed its £30,000 target over the weekend.
