Marjorie Taylor Greene is lashed after getting list of people who signed Declaration of Independence wrong

• Greene named six men as signatories of the document who were not

Georgia congresswoman and Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene made yet another humiliating gaffe over the weekend in which she wrongly named several icons of American history as having signed the Declaration of Independence.

'The average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 was 44 years old, but more than a dozen were 35 or younger,' the Trump acolyte tweeted on July 5. 

'Thomas Jefferson: 33 John Hancock: 39 James Madison: 25 Alexander Hamilton: 21 James Monroe: 18 Aaron Burr: 20 Paul Revere: 41 George Washington: 44,' she added. 

However, her error was swiftly pointed out as six of the eight names she listed - James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe, Aaron Burr, Paul Revere or George Washington - were never signatories of the famous document. 

Greene was immediately set upon by X users who gleefully pointed out her error. One user, Lisa Liberal, posted: 'STOP ELECTING STUPID PEOPLE.'

'Keep in mind ladies and gentlemen. That Marjorie Taylor Greene is a U.S. Representative. Whose salary is paid for by taxpayers,' she added. 

Another user, retired teacher Mama Sissie Says, also pointed another flaw in Greene's logic.

'Marjorie Taylor Greene being completely wrong about history (AGAIN) aside… Claiming that the average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence was 44 is NOT a flex when the Founders life expectancy was only 64 years.'

'I'm going to steal the Declaration of Independence just so I can personally show you who signed it,' another user joked. 

'How did you forget Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan, and Ronald Reagan?,' added California Republican Congressman Jack Kimble.  

There were 56 signatories to the document on July 4, 1776, in Independence Hall in Philadelphia. All were delegates to the Continental Congress. 

Also over the weekend, Greene was roundly attacked on X for posting another falsehood, once again claiming that Donald Trump won the state of Georgia in the 2020 presidential election at a boat rally on Lake Allatoona. 

'Yesterday’s enthusiasm for President Trump on Lake Allatoona was unmatched!! I know he won Georgia in 2020, and after yesterday, I know he’s going to win Georgia again in 2024!,' she wrote.  

Trump is facing a trial in the Peach state over his constant incorrect assertions that he was cheated out of victory there in 2020. 

A grand jury in August 2023 indicted Trump and 18 others, accusing them participating in a sprawling scheme to illegally try to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. 

Four defendants have pleaded guilty after reaching deals with prosecutors, but Trump and the others have pleaded not guilty. It is one of four criminal cases against Trump.

The current Republican nominee for the presidency lost Georgia by around 13,000 votes in 2020 to President Joe Biden. 

Last week, Greene proudly stood beside former Trump advisor Steve Bannon as he arrived at a federal prison in Connecticut to begin his four month sentence for defying a congressional subpoena.

'This is a DISGRACE to our country, and an affront to the principles of justice it was founded upon,' Greene wrote on X about Bannon's sentence. 'Republican voters need to fight harder than ever: this election is not over.'

House Republicans have promised to file a legal brief to help Bannon avoid jail time.

Greene has drawn the ire of her colleagues in the House in recent months over her open disagreements with speaker Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana. 

In March, Greene filed a motion to vacate Johnson. Eleven Republicans ended up voting to advance the motion - more than they eight that voted to oust McCarthy - but

Democrats voted to table it.

Greene has railed against the two-part spending bill that funded the government for fiscal year 2024, a bill that reauthorized spy tool FISA without warrants and a foreign aid package that did not include border security. 

Johnson spearheaded a $95 billion foreign policy bill that passed recently with Democrat support authorizing nearly $61 billion to Ukraine, along with billions to Israel and Taiwan.

He was forced to rely on support from Democrats as he presides over a tiny one-vote majority in the House, and it's challenging to get the unruly GOP conference in line.

'Excuses like 'this is just how you have to govern' and divided government are pathetic, weak and unacceptable. Even with our razor thin Republican majority, we could have at least secured the border,' Greene said.

Greene accused Johnson of 'aiding and abetting Democrats' to 'destroy our country,' as Democrats booed her and Johnson shook hands and smiled at the Republicans who support him. 

Back in May, Greene shrugged off the 'bleach blonde bad-built butch body' insult her Democratic colleague Rep. Jasmine Crockett hurled with a 50th birthday bikini photo.

'Many people go into their 50th birthday thinking it’s a bad thing, but I truly feel it’s wonderful and I’m so excited and grateful God let me live 50 years and do so many things,' she wrote on X along with the photo.

Crockett, meanwhile, defended cashing in on the insult she spat at Greene during an Oversight hearing earlier this month. She said Republicans do so all the time and she was using the funds to elect Democrats. 

'When I set out to do the trademark, that is not personally done, it is done under the campaign,' Crockett said on ABC's 'The View.'

'It was because there was a demand. I'm a business major who also was a lawyer. So the two things came together.' 

Crockett tore into the way Republicans had run the House and said she was working to make Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries the speaker of the House.

'This is about making sure that we can raise the monies. It's so that I can help save our democracy. My money goes to front-liners, people that are in fights to make sure that we can take the House,' Crockett said.

'We've seen that the House has been run like a circus. We need Jeffries as the Speaker of the House. And so, if they lose the House, I'm going to just go ahead and blame it on Marjorie.'

After the exchange, Crockett announced on X she would be launching a 'Crockett Clapback Collection' and posted a photo of a T-shirt she would sell.

She filed a trademark for 'bleach blonde bad built butch body' with the US Patent and Trade Office with plans listed to file a clothing line and a political consultancy under that name.
