Sir Keir Starmer today accused the Conservatives of attempting to suppress votes ahead of the general election after a Cabinet minister conceded Labour were likely to score the largest ever majority in history.
The Labour leader responded to remarks from Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride that he is heading for a landslide victory when the country goes to the polls on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak insisted he is 'fighting for every vote' as he joined the sofa on ITV's This Morning on the final day of campaigning.

Being in opposition 'the least productive nine years of my life', Starmer says
I can't tell you how frustrating opposition is, it's been the least productive nine years of my life. Being in opposition, voting and losing for nine years, is not doing what I came into politics to do.

'It's not over until the final whistle', says Sunak
Tomorrow's vote is not a by-election. it's not a referendum about the past. It's a choice about the future of our country. A choice that is going to have severe consequences for each and every family if we get that choice wrong.

Nigel Farage suggests young men shouldn't be told to avoid jokes that offend Germans
Oh I think Andrew Tate’s built a huge following amongst these people, despite a lot of imperfections – serious imperfections.
I think a lot of young men feel emasculated.
I mean, look at the football. You know, they’re told go to Germany, please don’t drink more than two pints of beer – you what? Don’t chant at the football matches – you what? Oh, don’t tell jokes that might offend the Germans, I mean, come on.
We are trying to stop young men being young men – that’s why Tate’s got the following he’s got so what I’m doing is maybe a part of a similar phenomenon.

Sunak denies Tories have shifted from centre
I think that our plan is one that is squarely in what the mainstream majority of the British public want. Having your taxes cut, your pension protected, and our borders secure I just think are what common sense majority of the British people want.

Rishi Sunak - I had good chat with Boris Johnson
Of course. I had a very good chat with him.
What you saw is all Conservatives … united in warning the country about the dangers of what Keir Starmer would mean, undoing all the progress that we’ve made.
And as Boris rightly pointed out, just at the moment where we have gone through Covid, the impact of the war in Ukraine and we’re now cutting people’s taxes and can look forward to a better future, we would throw all that away if Keir Starmer was in power.

Breaking:The Sun backs Labour ahead of general election
Put bluntly, the Tories are exhausted. They need a period in opposition to unite around a common set of principles which can finally bring to an end all the years of internal warfare.
It is time for a change.
Nigel Farage’s manifesto – lower taxes, less immigration, slashing the size of the bloated state – has struck a chord with millions, including many hard-working voters who supported Boris Johnson in 2019. But Reform is a one-man band which at best can only win only a handful of MPs and can never implement its policies.
The Liberal Democrats, meanwhile, are a joke – with a leader who has spent this most depressing of campaigns pulling ridiculous stunts.
Which means that it is time for Labour.

DAN HODGES: This has been an insane election
This has been an insane election.
And I know the Tories have run the worst campaign in living memory.
But I’m still sitting here trying to comprehend the fact the immediate former Conservative Home Secretary has appeared on the front of the Telegraph 24 hours from polling day conceding the election and triggering a new civil-war.
What was she thinking.

MailOnline readers - 'They still don't get it'
Just demonstrates how the government is so out of touch that they think that a major reason for their demise can boost their chances.
Think back to what we once had. We had best healthcare system in the world, good public transport, good education, same day GP appointments, dentists, good quality food, clean rivers & beaches… sadly 14yrs of Tory govt has destroyed the UK.
Oh my, oh my, they STILL don't get it do they! We don't want Boris or any of the other self serving Tories, they don't listen, they don't care, just like labour. I want the establishment to be shaken up, that's why I'm voting reform!
I thought the country had had enough of this man. Intervening a few hours before the election seems as if his beliefs in Sunak were hardly bubbling over.
That 80 seat majority totally wasted , they should have delivered what they knew their voters wanted. You reap what you sow !!!

Rhun ap Iorwerth - Part-time Starmer criticism is desperate
I think that the Conservatives are pretty desperate if they’re coming down to that kind of level of personal attack. People attack me personally all the time and I tend to try to ignore it.
What we need to focus on is what’s really at stake in this election. Conservatives are going – high time – Labour will form the next government, but we can hold them to account.

Ed Davey - I'm proud to bring caring out of the shadows
We've talked about the blue wall in the home counties, we've talked about the blue wall in the west country. This is the blue wall across rural Britain, and the yellow tractor is coming for it.
I'm really proud in this election campaign that, as well as having a bit of fun, we have brought the issue of caring out of the shadows.
We have made the argument that if you look after family carers, if you look after professional carers, you can rescue our NHS as well.
That's the message I want people to have as they go into the voting booths.

Rishi Sunak - I will work day and night to make a difference to people's lives
I think what Keir was saying he was with his kids on a Friday night out watching cheerleading or kickboxing rather than doing that. But the point is this, everyone’s going to do this job in a different way.”
One of the things I’ve spoken about a lot is that doing this job means I’m not as good as dad, I’m not as good a husband, as I would love to be, and that comes with the territory of being in public service and having the responsibility to be Prime Minister, to do a great job for everyone who’s watching.

Watch: Pat McFadden accuses Nick Ferrari of using transgender people for 'gotcha question'
This (question) is concerning women’s safety – the Conservatives have sought to make quite an issue over whether a transgender woman… what toilet she should use; now the headline says that ‘Transgender women do not have the right to use female-only spaces, Sir Keir Starmer has said in another flip-flopping stance.
Where would a transgender woman go to the bathroom in a restaurant that has just got a man and a woman’s facility?
Where do they go at the moment, Nick?”
You’ve enjoyed asking this question, I think, in recent days, Nick.

Keir Starmer - Wheeling out Boris Johnson shows how desperate Tory campaign has got
Not in the slightest.
I’ve been arguing the last 14 years have been about chaos and division. Last night they wheeled out the architect of chaos and division, so I think that just shows the kind of desperate, negative place they’ve got to with their campaign.

Keir Starmer - Time to turn the page on 14 years of failure
We’ve now had 14 years of chaos and division and failure, and the choice tomorrow is to bring that to an end, to turn the page and to start to rebuild with Labour.
I’ve been saying throughout this campaign that if they are returned on Friday for five more years of the Tories we won’t get anything different, it will be the same.
They’ve evidenced it in the campaign because Rishi Sunak started by campaigning with David Cameron. Then he borrowed Liz Truss’s programme and put it in his manifesto of unfunded tax cuts.
And last night they wheeled out Boris Johnson. When I say chaos, division and failure, they’ve just exhibited it in the campaign.

Lib Dems insist Ed Davey has shone spotlight on 'serious issues'
Well, we’re all talking about it and we are talking about the issues.
I think he’s really taken himself not very seriously to shine a spotlight on serious issues.
I think he’s got a balance between really serious issues that people are worried about and also, frankly, making sure that he has a somewhat better time than some of the other party leaders – but also not taking himself too seriously, which I think politicians too often do.
