Biden preaches about gun safety and calls for holding FAMILIES accountable... but doesn't mention Hunter's firearm conviction... in awkward speech to 'Gun Sense University' hours after verdict

President Joe Biden preached about his record on gun safety but failed to mention son Hunter's firearm conviction in a speech just hours after he was found guilty.

During his remarks, Biden repeatedly touted his record on implementing more strict gun control laws.

But he failed to bring up his son Hunter, 54, or the irony of the event taking place the same day as a jury found him guilty of lying about his crack cocaine addiction to buy a revolver in 2018.

Now he is facing a maximum of up to 25 years in prison when he is sentenced, in a date with a judge likely to be in October.

President Biden however, reference his late son Beau Biden and how he could relate to families of victims of gun violence because of the call he received informing him of his son's death.

'I know it's hard because I've gotten those phone calls too saying I've lost a son, a daughter, a wife – I know what it's like,' the president said at the Washington Hilton during remarks on his gun restriction policies at the Everytown's Gun Sense University summit.

'But guess what? Never give up on hope, hope, hope, hope,' he added.

Hours earlier, the 12-member jury in Hunter Biden's gun case came back with a verdict deeming him guilty on all three felony counts for lying on a form about his addiction in order to purchase a firearm in 2018 and owning and operating a firearm while being a user of illicit substances.

After the ruling, Biden decided to change his schedule to Wilmington Tuesday afternoon to be with his family.

While the president was not present at the weeklong trial, other family members, including First Lady Jill Biden, were in the courtroom supporting Hunter.

'As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad,' the president wrote in a statement following the ruling and before his remarks. 'Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today.'

'So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery,' Biden continued.

At the event, Biden also made his most recent verbal gaffe by claiming he's been to several 'mass shootings.'

'I've been to too many – I've literally spoken with well over a thousand families at these events I've attended – mass shootings,' Biden said to the anti-gun audience.

'Look in their eyes, you can almost feel that black hole they feel in the center of their chest, like they're being sucked in, there's no way out,' he continued, ignoring the flub.
