Music fan shocked to discover face of famous Scottish artist appear on his fish and chip wrapper

Musician Lewis Capaldi is well known for his love of takeaways, but one diner was in for a surprise when he saw the Scottish singer's likeness in his lunch.

Andy Thompson ordered chips from Paisley's Hippy Chippy yesterday only to find the chart topping singer staring back at him after his face had been formed from chip grease on the takeaway paper.

The 34-year-old estate agent was so surprised to see a resemblance of Capaldi in the £3.40 meal he has kept the wrapper and has promised to send it to the Someone You Loved singer if he wanted it.

Mr Thompson, from Gallowhill in the Renfrewshire town, said: 'I usually get a battered sausage but not this time.

'I unwrapped the chips, took a photograph to send to my missus, and noticed the face on the phone.

'I cannae believe it. She is a big fan of Capaldi, it's crazy. I hope he sees it, he's got a good sense of humour.'

The 26-year-old singer, from near Bathgate, has spoken of his love for takeaway in the past and even admitted which West Lothian fish and chip shop was his favourite - so much so he exchanges Christmas cards with the outlet.

And earlier this year the hungry musician surprised staff at a North Shields fish and chip shop when he turned up for a chippy tea.

There he posed with staff from The Waterfront on the Fish Quay ahead of his sell out gig at Newcastle's Utilita Arena before tucking into a large haddock and chips with his entourage.

Capaldi is currently taking time away from touring for his mental health, and has cancelled several dates because of his ongoing battle with Torurette's.

Earlier this year, after his Glastonbury set saw the crowd cheer him on when he struggled through the emotional set, the hit maker announced that all 24 dates of his Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent tour had been cancelled.

He took to social media to say it was 'obvious' he needed to spend 'much more time getting his mental and physical health in order' and branded the decision the 'most difficult' of his life.
