BusinessElectric.com released a ranking of the top 150 off-grid living locations in the U.S., voted for by 3,000 Americans through an online panel survey.

The top seven counties on this year's list are located in nearly every region of the U.S., and their populations span between 4,588 and 185,000. Here are the seven counties that topped the list of off-grid living locations that are perfect for those looking for a little peace and quiet - and space!

Wasco County. The county voted the best off-grid area this year is Wasco County - an Oregon county established in 1854. The county website calls it 'the trading hub of north-central Oregon,' and it is home to nearly 26,000 residents. A property listed on Land Search and located in The Dalles referred to the house as 'an off-grid oasis' that backs over 14,000 acres of National Forest Land. Anyone who is interested in purchasing this property to live off-grid and enjoy a busy hunting season in Oregon can do so for $1.55 million. This property offers a typical off-the-grid experience similar to other homes in the county: beautiful woods meets fresh air.

Hot Springs County. Wyoming residents who want to stay away from the outside world can purchase a property in the small county of Hot Springs. According to the United States Census Bureau , the county had a population of 4,621 in 2020, which is smaller than the population of the other six counties on this list. Most of this county is mountainous, but as of 2022, there are 553,706 acres of land in its farms , with an average farm size of 3,397 acres. The farms located in this county primarily focus on growing wheat and cotton. However, the real prize of the area is the setting's natural hot springs.

Meriwether County. Potential homebuyers who are looking for a great off-grid location in Georgia can stay in Meriwether County. With a population of nearly 21,000, this Georgia county has a strong agricultural community and natural resources.
