I flew 24 hours to try Wimbledon's strawberries and cream but I will NEVER try eating it again!

A pair of hopeful foodies flew across the world to try a classic Wimbledon sweet treat, only to be left sorely disappointed after tucking into what they described as 'literally cream on strawberries.'

Nick Iavarone, from Los Angeles, and Australian Xavier Di Petta, from Shepparton, Victoria, make up the house and techno DJ duo Partyshirt.

The pair headed to SW19, not just for the world-class tennis, but to sample the iconic English dessert of strawberries and cream.

Nick and Xavier documented their eagerly anticipated tasting experience in a video uploaded to their TikTok page, @partyshirt, captioned: 'We flew 24 hours to try "Strawberries & Cream" at Wimbledon'.

The footage, captioned 'Waited 28 years for this moment,' shows the duo purchasing a box of strawberries and generously pouring cream over them.

However, their excitement quickly turned to confusion and mild disappointment, as Xavier asked his bandmate: 'When you heard strawberries and cream, was this what you were expecting?'

Nick responded: 'I don't know, I thought it was gonna be like a cake, or something.'

Xavier echoed the sentiment, expecting something 'adjacent' to the dish served to them and more elaborate than 'straight cream.'

Nick popped a strawberry soaked in cream into his mouth, before admitting: 'I mean... it's literally cream on strawberries. It's not bad.'

Xavier was next to try the beloved Wimbledon snack, and described the cream as 'powerful,' before noting the reasonable price of the dessert at £2.50.

However, when asked by Nick if he would consider purchasing or eating strawberries and cream again, Xavier flatly responded: 'No.'

He concluded that it was a 'once in a lifetime' experience, and thanked 'Wimbledon, strawberries and cream, and friends' before he and his bandmate decided to turn their attention to the tennis matches.

Having amassed over 32,000 views on the clip, the DJ duo received dozens of comments from viewers who shared their thoughts on the dessert, as well as some offering advice on how to best enjoy the pairing.

One person wrote, 'British strawberries are just so sweet,' while another baffled viewer asked, 'Tall a** box for what?'

Meanwhile, an American viewer asked: 'Are the strawberries there better than ours in the states? For the last few years, it seems like strawberries don't taste like strawberries anymore. No flavor. But in France….WOW that's a strawberry!'

Another commenter suggested: 'The best way to have strawberries and cream is to slice the strawberries up pour the cream in/mix it and put in the fridge for 30min to an hour. Tastes sooo good that way.'

It comes as content creator Callum Ryan, from Milton Keynes, revealed how he flew to Portugal from London and bought a plate of peri-peri chicken for less than the cost of a chicken meal at Nando's.

He typically splashes out £15 at Nando's on a medium butterfly chicken meal with peri-salted chips and garlic bread, but set himself the challenge of flying abroad and buying peri-peri chicken for even less than £15.
