Sanna Marin poses for snap with Hillary Clinton - as she expresses her 'honour' at taking part in the 2024 Global Women Leaders Summit with former US Secretary of State

Sanna Marin posed for a snap with Hillary Clinton, after both participated in the 2024 Global Women Leaders Summit at the Bellagio Center, Italy.

The former Prime Minister of Finland, 38 - who gave up politics last September to join the Tony Blair Institute - shared snaps from the event on her Instagram, where she has more than a million followers.

The jet-setting mother-of-one expressed her 'honour' to have taken part in the conference, which was chaired by the former US Secretary of State and Ambassador Melanne Verveer.

In the first photo in the gallery, Sanna - sporting a sophisticated white lace co-ord - grinned as she posed alongside Hillary, 76, who donned an elegant all-navy trouser suit.

The focus of the summit is to 'facilitate reflection and strategic discussions on persistent barriers facing women leaders worldwide and address ongoing and escalating global conflicts that disproportionately impact women and girls'.

Sanna also revealed that the event, which is co-organized by The Rockefeller Foundation and Georgetown University’s Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), this year got to hear from 'women activists and peacebuilders from Afghanistan, Sudan, Ukraine and Yemen as well as from Israel and Palestine'.

In her caption, she expressed how the summit leaders crafted a statement and letter to the UN Secretary-General ahead of a meeting of Special Envoys and Special Representatives on Afghanistan taking place in Doha, Qatar.

'It is an outrage that Afghan women are not represented at the Doha III and we insist that Afghan women have a seat at the table,' Sanna penned.

'This is the time and moment for the UN and the international community to demonstrate unwavering commitment to Afghan women and girls that are victims of draconian abuses and gender apartheid under the Taliban rule.'

Images from the event pictured Sanna enjoying the Italian scenery and weather as well as taking part in talks and educational conferences.

Snaps and clips showed her taking in the views as she sipped on a coffee, taking glamorous selfies and grinning in group photos surrounded by political VIPs.

Sanna was the world's youngest prime minister when she took office in 2019. She lost the general election in Finland to the country's conservative party leader Petteri Orpo in April 2023.

Last May, she announced she was divorcing her husband Markus Räikkönen after 19 years together.

The couple, who share five-year-old daughter Emma Amalia Marin together, were rarely seen in public together in the months leading up to their divorce.

Her recent trip comes following a recent visit to New York in April.

Earlier this year, Sanna shared personal snaps of the trip to her Instagram stories, of which included a casual walk through Central Park.

The jet-setting mother-of-one took to New York just days after visiting Berlin, where she posted herself visiting a Holocaust memorial and the German Health Ministry.

This time around however she appeared to have embarked on a more social trip where she seemingly enjoyed lunches and cocktails with friends.

Taking to her stories, Sanna posted a picture of passers-by near Radio City, which she tagged 'NYC'.

The shot captured the essence of New York tourism, including its famous yellow cabs and sky-high buildings.

During her trip she also attended a 'working lunch' with friends, where she tucked in to a fish salad with leafy greens and an entree of fresh bread.

Later on the ex-Social Democrat leader and two friends filmed a selfie video while walking through New York City's sixth-largest park, Central Park.

For the trip, she donned an off white outdoor coat which she paired with black leggings and matching black accessories.

She and a pal then posed up a storm while sitting in front of a large water fountain.

Hours later Sanna posted an image of a cocktail garnished with a purple flower which she branded 'the cutest drink ever'.

Her last image for the day featured the politician and her friends dolled up as they met an old colleague for dinner at a restaurant in New York.

She donned all black for the night out, while her brunette shoulder-length hair was styled neatly with a side part.

As Finland's prime minister, Marin was one of Europe's youngest leaders, and oversaw her country's successful application to officially join NATO.

Announcing her resignation from politics, Marin told Finnish broadcaster YLE that it was 'time to move on'.

She said: 'I am eager to step into a new role. I also believe that it can benefit the whole of Finland.

'I believe that I can serve those voters [in Finland] well and maybe even better in the new assignment'.
