Akshata Murty ditches billionaire style for an 'everywoman' election wardrobe - swapping 'quiet luxury' designer gear for £34 shirt and £95 jumper from Boden and a past season Jigsaw dress

She's been known for her 'quiet luxury' style - and once stepped out in a pair of JW Anderson slippers costing nearly £600 for the school run.

But Akshata Murty, who is worth more than £500million, can't be accused of showing off her wealth during her husband Rishi Sunak's election campaign.

Instead, the daughter of a self-made billionaire, 44, has reworn outfits and sported British High Street staples, including most recently a coulorful £95 Boden jumper.

Her election wardrobe has also boasted a £225 striped midi dress from Jigsaw, which she first wore in October 2023 ahead of the Conservative Party Conference, as well as a £34 Boden shirt that she originally debuted in May 2023.

The mother-of-two has previously been known for wearing designer ensembles that top fashion experts claim would have given Jackie Kennedy a run for her money.

She teamed the colourful garment with a pair of wide-leg jeans and well-worn trainers as she joined the wives of Jeremy Hunt and James Cleverly on the general election campaign trail.

Ms Murty met up with Lucia Hunt, the Chancellor's wife, and Susie Cleverly, the wife of the Home Secretary, in the village of Fordham, Cambridgeshire.

The trio were also joined by Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer, the local Tory candidate, as they delivered campaign leaflets and spoke to residents.

Last week, Ms Murty continued her low-key dressing by rewearing a £225 striped midi dress from Jigsaw while touring Shinewater Primary School in Eastbourne.

Meanwhile, when attending a Conservative general election campaign event in Stanmore, London, in May, the Prime Minister's wife opted to once again show her love of a rewear.

Appearing alongside her husband, Ms Murty sported an embroidered relaxed shirt from Boden, currently costing £34 but originally priced at £85, that she first wore in May 2023 when hosting a Coronation Big Lunch outside Downing Street.

The chic long-sleeved garment was embellished with love hearts and featured trendy white and blue stripes.

Ms Murthy, who owns a £430million stake in her Indian tech billionaire father Narayana Murthy's IT business, previously raised eyebrows with her high-end wardrobe.

In February 2023, Ms Murty showed that even her loungewear is chic as she stepped out in a pair of JW Anderson slippers costing nearly £600 outside Downing Street.

She wrapped up in a chic all-black outfit including textured leggings and a lined leather jacket as she returned home in the car after what appeared to be the school run.

The billionaire's daughter, whose wardrobe often includes luxury items, sported a pair of JW Anderson chain-detail slippers on her feet.

The £570 suede slippers, which are lined with shearling, are a little more hardy than the average pair of house-shoes, with a durable rubber sole.

In July 2023, Ms Murty was named Britain's best dressed person and compared with Jackie Kennedy-Onassis.

The businesswoman and fashion designer made the list compiled by Tatler magazine alongside the likes of Princess Beatrice's husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and actor Bill Nighy.

Chandler Tregaskes, Tatler style editor, said: 'Her stream of 'It' ensembles would have given Jackie Kennedy a run for her money...

'Mrs Sunak is a shining example of modern-day diplomatically decadent dressing that steals the show.'

Ms Murty attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles and started her fashion label Akshata Designs.
