Heartbroken women around the UK have shared their disappointment after Jack Grealish was omitted from Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad after he was named as one of seven players cut from the original England group.

The news left many people online gutted as they admitted their summer wouldn't be the same without the chance to watch the Manchester City star's 'thighs in action'.

Grealish's legs have become so famous that Christmas calendars have been dedicated to the 28-year-old winger's leg muscles, as well as scores of social media pages created to admire 'the best calves in the game'.

But fans have now been left distraught after it was confirmed they won't get to see Grealish - or his legs - in action this summer for the England squad.

One person wrote on X, formerly Twitter: 'No Jack Grealish in the England squad! This is going to be a difficult summer for the girlies.'

Another said: 'You're telling me I won't get to see Jack Grealish's thighs in action over the summer? Gareth Southgate you are dead to me.'

A third person added: 'Gutted for you and your sexy legs! Leave City and get games.' A fourth wrote: 'Jack Grealish being left off the England squad has hurt me. What do you mean I won't be seeing this sexy b****** at the Euros.'

One fan page on Instagram - titled 'jack_grealishs_legs' features an account bio which reads: 'Is there anything more aesthetically pleasing in life than that of the legs of Jack Grealish? I don't think so.'

As reported by Mail Sport in April 2022, when asked about his calves, Grealish said: 'I actually don't do anything. It's just something that runs in the family. My grandad always had big calves when he used to play football.'

There had been rumours Grealish would not make the cut for England's Euro 2024 team along with Harry Maguire, who Mail Sport also predicted would miss out due to a calf injury.

Southgate confirmed yesterday that the Manchester City star will not be on the flight to Germany as he seemingly pays the price for a disappointing campaign with the Premier League winners.

However, the decision to drop the 28-year-old winger has provided a mixed reaction from fans on social media, with some agreeing his performance this season justified him losing out, while others called the move 'crazy'.

It comes after Grealish has enjoyed a number of boozy celebrations since Manchester City won the league last month as he was seen almost falling off the top of the team's open-top bus for their victory parade.

Following the team announcement, England fans took to X to air their grievances about Grealish's omission.

Football writer and content creator Umir said: 'Grealish omission, for his profile and what he offers in certain knockout game game states is crazy to me.

'Know he’s not been in the best of form league-wise but his ability to bring the ball upfield and win fouls as an outlet, top Top retention in high poss side v blocks too.'

Another upset fan, Rebekka, wrote: 'Jack Grealish cut from England?! That’s insane.'

One X user pointed out Grealish's ability to finish a game in the final few minutes, saying he is one of the best at keeping the ball and seeing the game out.

They wrote: 'If England are 1-0 up in the quarters/semis with 25 min to go, Southgate isn’t the type of manager to try and get a second. He’d rather keep the ball and see the game out, taking zero risks. I don’t think there are many better at that in the England squad than Jack Grealish.'

Football and sports writer Amos Murphy said despite his form, Grealish deserved to go to the Euros based on his profile as a footballer.

He wrote: 'Jack Grealish didn't deserve to go to Germany based on his form this season, but his profile is unlike any other in the squad. As dazzling as Eze, Gordon and Bowen are, they're game-changers, not game-winners. Slender lead with 20 to play in a KO game, it's Grealish you want.

However, other fans disagreed, including sports journalist Jay Motty, who said: 'For a player with 3 goals in 20 PL games this season and 2 goals from 36 England caps, Jack Grealish has some unreal PR.'

The announcement comes just over two weeks since Grealish nearly had a disaster as he came dangerously close to falling off the top of Manchester City's parade bus on two separate occasions.

In a clip that appeared on X, Grealish was seen dancing with his hands in the air before the City bus continued the move forward and, thus, nearly throwing him off.

Luckily, fellow winger Jeremy Doku was on hand to catch the England international and guide him to safety at the top of the bus.

However, shortly afterwards, another video appeared on X which, once again, showed Grealish nearly falling off the top.

In this clip, which was taken from a fan's perspective on the street, Grealish stood alongside Rodri at the top of the bus, as they sung along with fans.

But, as the bus set off, both players were jolted forward but, luckily, Spanish midfielder Rodri stuck an arm across Grealish to prevent him falling.

The likes of Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne were also seen enjoying the festivities on the day.

As well as their Premier League title, City also showed off their Club World Cup title and their UEFA Super Cup title - which were claimed earlier in the campaign.

Many had expected City to also claim the FA Cup title however, on Saturday afternoon, they were beaten 2-1 by rivals Man United in the final at Wembley.

Grealish featured as an unused sub in the game which saw goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo as well as City's Jeremy Doku.

The defeat just one day before their title parade clearly didn't dampen spirits as the players and staff partied away on the bus.

Guardiola was seen with his trademark celebratory cigar - which he's tended to do ever since claiming the first of their four consecutive league titles.

Meanwhile, the likes of Foden and Spanish midfielder Rodri were seen dancing away and drinking heavily as they enjoyed the celebrations.

Thousands of City supporters lined the streets in Manchester, despite the rain on the day, to cheer on the squad and witness the parade in person.

Some supporters were even seen climbing upon scaffolding across the city centre, as they looked to reach a vantage point to watch the parade unfold.

The celebrations came less than a week after Grealish's boozy antics on the final day of the league when he was seen looking worse for wear as he stumbled out with minders following a celebratory meal at Fenix in Manchester.

Grealish wore a striking Gucci suit - a brand for which he is an ambassador - to the dinner and later posted a clip on his Instagram Stories of him singing the lyric 'the rest is still unwritten', while holding a drink and showing off his winner's medal.

Along with the players, many supportive partners attended the event, smiling at the success.

Phil Foden's girlfriend Rebecca Cooke was there - as well as his mother Claire Rowlands - while Rico Lewis was also seen holding hands with his partner, and Pep Guardiola's wife Cristina was pictured.

The meal followed a 3-1 win over West Ham United to complete City's sixth league success in seven seasons under their manager Pep Guardiola.

Although Grealish did not come on during the game as he featured as an unused substitute during the title winning game.

In fact he only featured for 10 minutes in City's five games in May after being kept out of the team by youngsters Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden.

Guardiola admitted that Grealish has struggled this season but told reporters he would be back to his best soon enough.

The manager said: 'He's struggled this season and Jeremy has made an incredible step forward as everyone has seen in the last games. But Jack will be back at the level of last season, I'm pretty sure.'

Elsewhere, Liverpool midfielder Jones was also among the players to miss out on the final England squad for Euro 2024. Jones joins Maddison who has also been told he won’t make the final cut.

The Anfield star was handed his first call up when Gareth Southgate named his provisional 33-man party for the tournament last month.

But he will miss out on travelling to Germany, as will Tottenham midfielder Maddison, who was widely viewed as one of the players at risk of missing out following a largely disappointing second half of the season.

It is understood Maddison was in line to play in Friday’s final warm-up fixture versus Iceland, but that will no longer be the case with Jarrod Bowen pushing to take his place in the team. Sources indicate Maddison’s decision to leave the squad on Wednesday is linked to Southgate’s decision to leave him out of the final party.

Posting on X after news on his axeing broke on Thursday, Tottenham star Maddison said: 'Devastated doesn’t quite cut it. Trained well and worked hard all week but if I’m honest with myself, my form for Spurs when coming back from injury in the second half of the season probably wasn’t at the levels I had set which gave Gareth a decision to make.

'I still thought there would be a space for me in a 26 man squad as I feel I bring something different & had been a mainstay in this whole qualifying campaign for Euro 2024 in Germany but the manager has made the decision and I have to respect that.

'I’ll be back, I have no doubt. Wishing the boys all the luck in the world out in Germany, unbelievable group and lads that I literally call some of my best friends.

'I genuinely hope football comes home.'

Maguire later posted: 'I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.

'Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted.

'For me, representing England is the highest honour. It means everything to me. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Go and win it boys.

'Next, I will return to the supervision of the Manchester United medical team in order to prepare for next season.'

Southgate will speak to the press at 6pm on Thursday evening ahead of Friday night's final warm-up game against Iceland.
