'As it's been such a reflective year I have been putting pen to paper which has been the most wonderful experience…so maybe a [book emoji] next year???' he wrote.

James also talked about the birth of Inigo, a son he shares with Alisee Thevenet, in October, sharing a picture of him with two of the couple's dogs.

But there was also a tinge of sadness hanging over the festive season after the death of James' beloved Spaniel Ella, in January this year.

'The year started with the unbearable sadness of losing Ella,' James wrote. 'Despite knowing her time was coming, it has taken me a while to come to terms with her no longer being by my side.

'I know many of you who have also lost a dog, will understand the grief that follows you.'

He went on to say that later in 2023, he and Alizee has the 'absolute delight' of welcoming Inigo.

He added: 'Inigo has already found his place amongst the pack, giggling every time one of the dogs comes over to nestle up beside us.'

As well as sharing his family news, James went on to discuss his new Waitrose dog food venture, in memory of his late Ella.

He wrote: 'A month later and I launched a new James & Ella range into Waitrose - and one of the last photos taken of me and Ella now appears on the shelves across stores nationwide.

'It was a very proud moment taking Inigo to our local store to see the product on the shelves for the first time.'

Finishing off his New Year post, James added: 'I'm going into 2024 and promise to continue to focus on my mission... To make all dogs lives as happy and healthy as they have made mine.

'Happy New year to you all. With love, James, Alizee, Inigo, Zulu, Mabel, Inka, Luna, Nala & Isla.'

The entrepreneur revealed there's a tinge of sadness hanging over the celebrations after the death of his beloved dog Ella, who has taken pride of place on top of the Christmas tree

It comes after James shared a festive post about how his celebrations were bittersweet this year following Ella's death.

Sharing a snap of his Christmas tree with a picture of Ella in pride of place at the top, he wrote: 'The angel on our tree watching over us.

'My first Christmas in 16 years without Ella but our first with Inigo. Happy Christmas from my family to yours.'

He has previously revealed how Ella stopped him from 'contemplating suicide' during his battle with depression, and said that 'during difficult times' he would spend an entire day without speaking to anyone but her.

However, the brother of the Princess of Wales experienced joy towards the tail end of 2023 with the birth of his son Inigo.

Announcing his son's birth on Instagram at the end of October, James shared a photo of Inigo's tiny hand 'holding' a badge containing an emblem of his late beloved dog Ella, and another photo of the tiny baby in his cot while James's other dogs watched over him, the new father praised the NHS for looking after both Alizee and the newborn at Basingstoke Hospital, where he was born.

He also revealed he has already taught little Inigo about Ella.

Although he did not reveal Inigo's exact birthday, he said the little one has been in his life for 'just a few weeks'.

In a heartfelt announcement on Instagram, James wrote: He has been in our lives for just a few weeks but they have been the most special of my life getting to know our beautiful baby boy.

'No matter how prepared I thought I was…I was not prepared for the overwhelming emotion of meeting Inigo for the first time and the love for my darling Alizée as we became three.

'We have settled into our new life as parents and I’ve told him all about Ella and that if it wasn’t for her he wouldn’t be here today and that we miss her greatly.

'The dogs have been fantastic at welcoming their little brother into the pack (although Inka needs to know the teddybears are not all for her…)

'We would like to thank the wonderful team at Basingstoke hospital, from the very first scan to walking out the front door for the first time as three, we couldn’t have felt more supported and looked after throughout so thank you NHS.'
