Virginia Chavez OBITUARY

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia K. Chavez. She passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on June 30,2024, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Virginia was born April 17, 1930, and lived her whole life in Louisville Colorado where she led a life defined by love, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family. She married her lifelong love, Andy Chavez, and together they built a life centered around faith, love, and hard work. Virginia was a caregiver to her mother and numerous family members and was a devoted mother who dedicated herself to nurturing her five children. Her home was always a warm and welcoming place, filled with laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. Virginia supported her children who played sports for Louisville and Centaurus High school. You could see her on game night cheering them on and she never missed a game. She also had a passion for gardening and spent countless hours tending to her flowers and cultivating a beautiful backyard retreat where family gatherings were always a joyous occasion. She was known for her delicious homemade tortillas and her unwavering kindness towards everyone she met. Her gentle spirit and genuine interest in others touched the lives of all who knew her. In addition to being a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Virginia was an “other mother” to many of our friends. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Virginia is survived by her beloved children, Andy, Michael (Patty), Nicholas (Betty), Marilyn (Dwight); treasured grandchildren, Andrea, Duane, Nicholas (Jes), Kristopher (Kathryn), Derek (Tamika), Gina, Mary, Erica and Gary John II (Alex); several great-grandchildren, Christina, Alyssa, Anthony, Jessica, Ashley, Leah, Connor, Colin, Nicholas, Michael, Penelope, Farrah, Noah, Khiree, Liam, Paisley, Jaidon, Aubree, and Gary John III; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, who passed away in 1984, her youngest son, Gary John I, and her Grandson Gary John, Granddaughter Josephine, Father Jose Duran, Mother Maria Apodaca, six brothers, Sam, John, Joe, Dewey, Bonifacio, Jesse, and four sisters, Flora, Mary, Eva, and Francis. Virginia’s legacy of love, compassion, and strength will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come. A funeral service to celebrate Virginia’s life will be held at St Louis Catholic Parish, 902 Grant Ave, Louisville, CO 80027 on July 9th, 2024. The Rosary will commence at 9:45am, followed by the funeral service at 10:00. The burial will be at the Louisville Cemetery at 11:30, and the reception will immediately follow back at the St Louis Catholic Parish at 12:00pm Virginia Chavez will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
