Marcella “Marcy” Munson OBITUARY
Marcella “Marcy” Munson, age 81, passed away in Boulder, Colorado on Friday, June 24, 2024, while living at Frasier Meadows Retirement Community. Marcy was born on June 26, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, where she grew up with her parents, sister Bernadette, and surrounded by her midwestern family. She attended Cody High School and upon graduation set her sights on seeing more of the country by moving to California. While attending Junior College, Marcy met her future husband Bob Munson. Shortly after their marriage and the birth of their son Michael, they moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1967, where their second son Chris was born. The two of them then started Munson Farms in 1976, raising their sons to have an appreciation of the outdoors, farming, and community. Alongside her husband, Marcy created an institution that has shaped the very foundation of agriculture in Boulder County. Marcy’s vision, dedication, and love for the land turned Munson Farms into a cherished destination for all who visited. Her contributions to sustainable farming, community spirit, and agricultural innovation will forever be remembered and celebrated. Marcy’s presence and passion will live on at the farm stand. In addition to being a pioneer farmer in Boulder, Marcy greatly enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, attending many events at the University of Colorado’s Buffalo Belles club, lectures at Frasier Meadows, skiing, hiking, and trips to to her beloved California. She and Bob were world travelers and were often figuring out their next trip. She truly loved living in Boulder and was happiest when it was farm season. Marcy is survived by her son Michael and daughter in-law Joan, along with their children Calvin, Noah and Isabelle; her son Chris and daughter in-law Jennifer and their children Christopher, Natalie, and Josie. She is also survived by her sister Bernadette D’Alessandro and brother-in-law Donald D’Alessandro. While she will be sorely missed, Marcy’s legacy will continue to thrive, inspiring future generations of farmers and visitors alike. Our family finds peace knowing she joins her husband Bob who she had missed very much. They are likely getting ready to pick the sweet corn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Mary church on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with reception to follow in the church hall.
