Keith Silas Evans OBITUARY

Keith Silas Evans died peacefully on June 26, 2024. He was born August 6, 1965 in Silver Spring, Maryland, but he was a true Boulder kid, growing up in one of the first houses built on Shanahan Ridge. He attended Mesa Elementary, Southern Hills Junior High, and graduated from Fairview High School in 1983. An active child, he fished at Viele Lake, took swim lessons at the South Boulder Rec Center, swam at the Boulder Reservoir, played Frisbee at Eben G. Fine Park, and spent countless hours in the South Boulder Open Space with his four-legged buddy Blacky, back when few people other than neighborhood kids went there. Keith began working at The Broker Inn at age 15, and went on to work at a who’s-who of Boulder kitchens: Berardi’s, Carmel House, Juanita’s, The New York Deli, the Stage Stop Inn in Rollinsville, and Eldora Ski Resort. He also worked at Viking Spirits Liquor Store and at Celestial Seasonings, a job he very much enjoyed and where he made lasting friendships. In the 1990s, Keith moved to Moose Pass, Alaska, where he worked at the Alaska Trail Lake Lodge. He loved Moose Pass. It’s where he bought a house and had his son. Keith never met a stranger. Even as a small boy, it was his nature to greet people with an innate openness that was endearing. Keith naturally collected friends. He couldn’t walk down the Pearl Street Mall without multiple people running up to him to say hello and reconnect. Even when he hadn’t seen someone in years, he’d remember details about their lives. Keith had the ability to see the best in everyone and to accept people for who they are, faults and all, and he wanted the same for himself. He would give his last dollar or the shirt off his back to anyone he thought needed it, never asking anything in return. He lived the last few years of his life in Greeley, CO, and despite dealing with serious medical issues, Keith never lost his loving acceptance of others. Keith was a very special soul, and we will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his father, David S. Evans, and his sisters Aracely and Becky. He is survived by his mother, Susan B. Evans, and siblings Kathleen (Dariusz), Diane (John), Jennifer, Kenneth, Margaret, Lala, and Linda; his son Michael (Liz), and three grandchildren, Jacklynn, Madelyn, and Warren, as well as many nieces and nephews and his close friend Claire Lepper.
